Title: Puppies and collars
Post by: Etta21 on August 22, 2005, 12:13:08 PM
Hello all!
I just got my Bishop last weekend (8/13) and I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with collars? Everytime I put his collar on he scratches like crazy, its one of those little break-away nylon collars, I dont leave it on him very long because i dont want him scrathing too much sence he is a short hair, and he never scratches when he is wearing a shirt. But any help or advice maybe a recomendation on a different collar would be so very appreciated! Thanks for your time!

I've never had any problem with my dogs wearing a collar.  It does take a little bit of time to get used to them if they've never worn them though.  Until they are accostomed to wearing the collar, they will scratch but they shouldn't get the hair off and you should be able to fit your fingers between the collar and their neck.

Sometimes when young puppies are getting used to collars they will scratch at them usually if you leave it on for awhile they will begin to get used to it and leave it alone.  Always make sure to take your puppies collar off when you put him/her in the crate don't want it getting caught on the bars.

Good Luck
