The injections failed to give Max any relief. This morning, I could see by the look in his eyes that his time has come. It's looking like we are going to be helping him to the Bridge within the next couple of days, possibly as soon as tomorrow.
In his final act as "Senior Weiner", Max would like to wish the best of luck and a very long reign to his successor: Ivan, owned by Mack. Ivan will be turning 17 this month. Having met sweet little Ivan myself, I couldn't think of a more worthy successor to the "Senior Weiner" title. All hail Ivan, the "Senior Weiner". Long may the new "Senior Weiner" reign.
It's been a great run for us. Even though Max has live a life longer than most, you always want just a bit more. More than the quantity of Max's 17 1/2+ years has been the quality of those years. Consider this one statistic: In his entire life, you can count the number of times that he slept alone (no hoomans or other doggies to snuggle with) on one hand. Soon he will be reunited with Rudy & Rusty and our trio will be complete again.
There are simply no words to express my sadness in hearing this news.
Thank God that Max has your family to help him on his journey. You will all be in my prayers.
With sadness in our hearts and tears in our eyes, Max, we give you the full salute with honors as you journey to join your angel brothers, Rudy and Rusty and all the other angels at the Rainbow Bridge. You will always have a special place in our hearts. You are all in our thoughts and prayers as you travel the journey helping Max to the Bridge. Hugs to you all. Dee, Dave, Sarge & Looie

Oh David - I am so sorry. We all hurt with you and hope you feel us beside you as you move through the next few days. It's comforting to know how much Max is loved and has a family who only wants the easiest for him. Bless you and Godspeed to our Max.
love and hugs DAvid, just tell him at the bridge to avoid contact with a short haired b/t named Emma, she is probably still Alpha. God will give you strength when the time comes.
Again lots of love to you all, and remember we are all here for you.

Max has had a fantastic life! Loved, fed, warm blankies--sign me up! I know the decision is hard but ultimately I feel you should let Max go. I know of course, that you are Jewish, but Wednesday IS St. Francis' day...maybe that would be the right itme.
Godspeed, Max
It will be very hard the next few days I went thru it in April of this year with my big Bouvier Jake it is very hard to do but at least they get to have that option. Our thoughts & prayers are with you.

My heart sank as I read about Max. But I know he's had a wonderful and long life. Bless his heart.
This has brought tears to my eyes even though I know it is for the best! Our thoughts and prayers are with you :comfort:
We know how difficult this is for you and your family. Max has been part of your lives for a long-time. He has been a wonderful friend and you will be doing him a good service when the time comes. Be brave. God bless Max!
I'm so sorry David. No matter how long you have them it is a terrible time to go through. You have been extremely lucky with your doxies, very few health problems to speak of and so long lived. What a blessing Max has been for you, my thoughts and prayers will be with you along with everyone elses. Please give him a hug for us and tell him we wish we could have met him in person, we know what a special boy he is. I hope it gives you some comfort to know he will be with Rudy and Rusty again.
I am so sorry that Max hasn't gotten better. Even though we know it is time in our hearts, it is so hard to let them go. Tell Max to look up Zeke when he gets to the bridge. They were born about the same time so they can tell each other lots of stories and Zeke can warn him about Zelda and her bad influence. Although it sounds like she might be busy with Emma, since they both were alpha. Sending HHHHHHHH's & PPPPPPPP's to Max, David, Margie & Jessica. Our thoughts will be with you all at this sad time.

Aw David, we're so sorry for you. Max is an incredible pup and had a good long and happy life with you and your family. Poldie and Skeeter loved to visit Max and all the rest of the pack. Skeeter will join in the salute to him along with Boone who never met him but I'm sure would have liked him. I know Poldie and Rudy will lead the honor guard at the Bridge and Rusty and Archie will be on the welcome wagon along with all of our other friends already there. Peace to you and Maxie, it's been an honor to know him.
Shalom,
Kevin & Jeri
We all knew this day was coming, but oh, how we hate that it has arrived. Happy crossings, Max, as you go forth to the Rainbow Bridge! Salutations to Prince Ivan as we turn over the leadership and sage advice column to him.
Hail and farewell, Max. you have been an inspiration to us and a member of all of our families. My little herd at the bridge will welcome him.
Farethee well, Max. We have enjoyed your stay among us mere humans. May your journey be sweet and your resception on those far shores joyous.
I am sorry. Peace to Max.
