Patches has a new baby brother pic enclosed I hope, Keep Buddy on a leash when he is playing with Patches so she can get away if she wants.Patches does not want to get away Buddy wants to lay on Patches and nibble on her (nibble like dogs do when they are chewing fleas) Patches does not mind at all she just lays on her back with all four feet up in the air.She gets on Buddy's back & head just wresling away with him chews on him too. Buddy is a 18 week old Doberman Pincher weighs in at 48# and is skinny too. Know Patches half brother Achilles his brother is a Great Dane named Zueus so they get along great will see if I can catch up and talk to the owners and see how they started them out together. If anyone has had a big pup & a little Doxie I'm all ears not sure if I should just turn them loose together or not that is what Patches wants but she is a pup too so she may not get her way for a while yet.

What a handsome puppy! I had a 150 lb Great Dane and 24 lb Longhaired dachshund together. They got along great, but I was lucky. Fred was super gentle with Jessie and you have the right idea, to watch is a big paw accidentally going on the doxie, doxies can get hurt so easily. You just have to really protect Patches and make it clear to the puppy she's not a play toy. You will have quite a pair, my two got into the newspaper several times as I was walking them down the street because they were so opposite.
Thanks for the encouragement I need it I have always had big dogs 20 years with the Bouvier's Gizmo the old Papillon I still have was my first little dog.The crime rate in Tulsa has really went up thought Patches might make a good watchdog but has not been barking that much untill Buddy came(Buddy is the Dobe Pup) Now when Buddy barks Patches barks??? guess it was because Gizmo is deaf???
Had this thought of getting 2 PVC pipes just long enough for Patches to get into mabe 3ft long and Patches size opening put them in the yard. That way if Buddy gets to be too much she could go into the PVC pipe to get away from him does that sound crazy we have a huge backyard but really no place for Patches to get away from Buddy.Today they were playing and Patches ran from Buddy I had him on a leash if Patches tail goes under her I stop all the playing Patches goes into the house but wants right back out to play some more.Buddy lays on the ground to play with Patches but I know he could out run her easy. A running critter may kick in prey drive so know I have to be careful with the 2 little girls.Buddy is going to obedience Beginners class next week.

Congrats on your new addition !!! I would watch them for a good while and train them to be gentle with each other. I am sure after a time, they will be fine - but keep a close watch. Look forward to seeing pictures of them together !
WhooHoo! Another Ruff and Reddy team. (Remember that old cartoon?) Please watch Buddy. I'm sure he will learn to be gentle with his best little friend, Patches. I'm looking forward to hearing the comments when you walk them both down the street.
