Title: Blood draws and shots and stuff
Post by: Charlie on August 24, 2006, 04:30:56 PM
Charlie and Abbie here, we don't know it yet, but mom has made an appointment for us to have blood drawn next month and to receive updated rabies shots.  No, no, we're fine and in perfect health, but mom is smart and realizes that she still has a possibility of going to Hawaii for her next duty station and wants to do everything she can do to keep us with her.  In doing that, the updated rabies shot and blood test will help in ensuring we can skip the 6 month quarintine that Hawaii has for incoming pets and only have to stay in quarintine for 5 days, if that.

Brenda here, the blood test that's required checks the amount of rabies vacine that's in their system.  The rabies shot is needed for each of them because there Hawaii doesn't recognize the 3-year vaccine and requires one every year.  The big deal with the blood test is that it can't be less then 6 months old and I'm suspecting that FEB/MAR should be my moving time.

I posted before, but if anyone knows anything about Pet air (http://www.flypets.com/), let me know.

Good for you, for planning ahead.  I don't know anything about the pet transport company you mentioned.  I sure hope your furkids are able to have the 6-month quarantine waived.  Best of luck to you, Hawaii sounds great!
