Hi everyone! We are OK. We are not under water. The flooding and washed out roads are north of Wasilla, however folks could be flooded in our low-lying areas, we have lots of creeks and streams that are being pushed to their limits with all the rain we've had. We've had a super lousy wet summer!!! Our local paper shows a road in Houston, AK that is flooded. That is the area between where I live and our family cabin. I was at the cabin this weekend, but got home without a problem. The creeks along the way are very high though. I was kinda hoping to get stranded at the cabin, my folks just got here and I was up there visiting them. It has always been my dream to get "stuck" at the cabin.

My house is on a hill more or less. We have riverlets running down our road from the house, and the borough road at the bottom is mostly a lake, but not impassable, at least not yet. We've been trying to get them to put a culvert in for years. To look at the town of Wasilla, you would not think "flood." We're soaked though.

The Alaska State Fair begins on Thursday, rain or shine. The rain tends to keep the crowds at bay. It doesn't bother me though. For the first time in many years, I will not be able to go on the first day of the fair. I decided instead to go on Friday, mainly so I wouldn't have to watch the clock and get home because I had to work the next day.

Patty- Glad you are doing ok. Hey...maybe you could send some of that rain our way. We haven't gotten rain in..um.......welll....a really long time. So long I can't remember! My husband says forget entering those baked goods in the fair, just send them here :grin:. Good Luck at the fair. Sounds like you made some very tasty things. Hope it quits raining up there so you guys can stay outta the water!
