Sometimes, when there is a fly buzzing around the house, Boonie will snap his jaws and suddenly--no more fly! I have never known a dog to catch and eat flies, but I really think that's what's happening. I don't have any other explanation for it.
That is soo funny!! Lilly did the same thing the other day, 2 times!!!!
Im not sure if she is getting it when its on the door or on something, but I have seen and heard it happen. I would love to figure out how and why.
Lilly luves bugs though, maybe now that she has caught a couple, she can claim she is a hunter LOL

Ozzy will track flies around the house, and if they get too close, they are gone!!!
Oh yes...It is possible! Just ask my brother's dachshund, Bandit (Bander Bee), he loves to catch flies. Apparently they are pretty tasty to him. LOL He also tried catching bees this summer, but quickly learned that wasn't such a great idea. :grin:
Our cat even catches bugs. He sits by our back door and catches millers( his favorite!) and mosquitoes, among other bugs. It is quite entertaining to watch him flipping around in the air and swiping the bugs with his paws. Porky doesn't like to eat bugs, he only likes to play with them.
Bish & Lainey will chase the flys around the house then there are no more flies
Charlie has never done this, but Abbie will play with all the flying bugs and butterflies outdoors. It's really cute as she is so big and she just gracefully pounces around trying to catch them in the air until they eventually fly away.

I'd say you have one talented puppy there Jeri! LOL! I just can't fathom fly wings between my teeth...but dawgs do have a different value system than we do. :wink: Go Boonie!
Sophie will occasionally trap a fly on the window behind the couch as she patrols back and forth on it. I had a male red standard LH years ago that could grab a fly out of the air whenever one got within reach. He rarely missed.
Absolutely! Although I can't get Brekke to get in on it, Heidi-Angel and Siglen-Angel were great at catching flies, and even Gretl-Angel did a few times. I had an anecdote to add to this, but I'll save it for my POD turn!
and then we have Toby.... who chases flies that aren't there. LOL! Happily that has been somewhat controlled by meds. Poor little OCD boy of mine. Gotta love those little bug eating babies! :headbang:
