Nah...nothing is hurtling toward your head. The feathery kind of duck. Hope it's ok to post here I just finished, am very relieved to have it done, it's varnished and will be shipped Friday (this years Federal Duck stamp entry). I don't want to paint anything with feathers again for a while! (still trying to get a spot open to paint the sleeping doxies...I have too many commissions and other projects going!)

excellent wood duck, what does Miss Hallie think of it? Do you have these little guys in your area? I have only seen them alive once in my life, and that is in a pen where they are planning to reintroduce them to our area.

Every one of your paintings sucks me right in. The duck and the leaves are awesome as usual, but I was particularly taken by the background, the gradient of the lighting and the suggestion of trees in the distance. What an eye you have!
Thanks guys! The judging is the first week in October I believe...6th and 7th maybe? They moved it up the last few years from the November dates before. The chances of winning are pretty remote but it is always fun to see where you land.
I'm glad you mentioned that leaf Julia that is the part the bugs me the most. not sure if it was a wise addition for a stamp but it might be ok.
