Dis is Sam. Guess what Dr Cindy says momma has to give me an eggie every day until I put on some weight. Yep, so eat your heart out fellow dachsies I am in heaven.
Marcia here - Sam has always had trouble maintaining a constant weight especially during the Summer months, but even if he would lose weight it would come back in a few days. This year however he lost weight, gained some back then lost it again. We went to see Dr Pam for his Rabies shot and she told me to up the amount of food he was eating then if that didn't help to bring him back. It did help, but with the sudden heat wave he started to lose weight again and so we went to see Dr Cindy.
After taking blood, which was very hard since his veins are old & fragile Dr Cindy called yesterday & said that he had elevated Kidney levels, but to wait with treatment so the lab could do a thyroid test. But she did tell me to feed him a cooked egg a day until the results came back. However he can no longer have cheese which he loves. So this morning I made him his egg which he shared with Eddie and the bowl never looked cleaner. We are now feeding him Merrick food until Dr Cindy gets some of the good tasting kidney diet back in stock. Wish this darn heat would break as it is bringing the whole house and its occupants down - it's cool in the mornings so I can at least get something done.
Hey, Sam, Eddie, and Marcia - good to hear from you! That is great news about the eggies, Sam! (Sorry about the reason, though.) We are tired of our heat wave, too. It broke (hah!) yesterday. We had 17 days of 100+, and yesterday was only a high of 99! That did surely beat the previous four days of 113, 110, 108, and 106. What have your heat wave temps been?
