Title: Fairbanks Alaska
Post by: jillkilleen on July 24, 2006, 06:02:23 PM
Anyone live near Fairbanks?  My son just moved there and we know pretty much next to nothing about the area.  He moved for ,  :idiot:.  Any fun info would be appreciated!

I flew into Fairbanks once, ate dinner and then visited the Howling Dog Saloon. Leaving at 2 a.m. it was still daylight, which I thought was a hoot. I remember they had a fantastic fish fry (Halibut) on the banks of the river that flows through the city.

My cousin and her family live in North Pole, which is a few miles from Fairbanks.  I have never had the opportunity to visit the area, but they have a great life up there.

I love the pictures and stories they send of things like a moose standing in their front yard, the 40 below temp reading on the bank sign one winter, the near 24 hour daylight in summer, and the northern lights.  I wish I could experience some of that myself, except for the 40 below part.
