Well OK...she's DOES take me to the park every day to sit and smell the wind.
And...we been visiting people...
I guess I don't have it too bad...lounging in the sun with a great view of the bay isn't a bad way to recupperate.
I now have kissie marks all over my screen from kissing your nose. Your fun will come missie, take the good time when you can. I still cannot get over how like Amy you are

I hope you atr adding these photos to your site. As far as Hallie is concerned she seems to be doing better. I have a few questions for you though, (1) how old is Hallie? (2) Is her body still bothering her? and (3) what are you allowing her to do? Last time we talked I suggested you look into showing Hallie and going for a Champion Title are you even concidering it? Remember DD she may have been hurt but she is not crippled and she certainly is still alive. Give her a reason to be excited.

She is very happy though, and not really too bored. We're getting out lots more now, I either am holding her most of the time or I take her shopping in her stroller or something...and we go sit in the yard in an x pen together a lot. Although now at 5 weeks and 2 days I am letting her run around more.
Kunk, she actually has seemed 100% normal since the morning after this happened. So she has felt like she could do anything she wanted all this time, I just want her little back to heal up good. With her little tushie I can barely feel a little swelling in there still, but not bad. We'll have the vet check it again next allergy shot day. There aren't too many shows where we can do breed since she is registered with NCA and not AKC so we have to wait for one to come along again. But I do plan to take her back to handling class, I was going to this week but chickened out. We will start by not doing much and eventually I'll let her do more. Tomorrow morning we are going to a horse show for me to get pictures, and at night we are going to a bonfire/singing thing at our vets house (what better place to take Hallie for an outing...a party full of vets!) and Sunday we're going to the doxie picnic. We're getting back into the swing of things! :)
Does anyone have suggestions for adding fiber to her diet? (Jen?) She already gets pumpkin. I have searched the net and not found much and her vet wasnt too helpful there either. I need to harden her stools to help her anal sac. I am giving her more kibble per canned ratio.
"Metamucil Bars" you can get them at Walmart or anywhere like that ... just give her maybe 1/4 of one crumbled up along with her food or as a treat :) Also works like a charm for clearing up the trots... little trick Hildiesmom shared with me a few years ago! :thumb:

Ha! Who would have thought. I'm guessing it doesn't matter flavor...if they even have flavors? Is it something you can keep giving or just give when her stools don't look real hard? I'm venturing out to the grocery store here today (first time leaving her home alone AAHH) so I'll pick some up, thanks Jen (and Hildiesmom!). I am also picking up some black tea, she's been biting her feet (her allergies are really flared up right now poor thing. got an app't with skin doc next week) and someone told me several black tea bags to a cup and soak her feet a few times a day will do wonders. I hope so!
the hills reduction diet is what our pair get and I know its a odd topic but they have real firm poo's. AMy gets about 9 with her meals.

Amy gets 9 of which? Is that a canned or kibble food? I wish I were brave enough to feed raw, people tell me their dogs have no problems with anal sac stuff on raw (although I'm sure there is always an exception to the rule).

Kibble bits, it covers the bottom of a 1\3 cup container base plus a third of a 100gm MY dog for am and pm.

Thanks Aunt Sandi, Hallie would love you to ruffle her hair! :thumb: She was running errands with me today and I was ordering a frame at Michaels' and I set her on the floor for a minute. A worker came up to pet her and she kept putting her paw on the lady's arm whenever she tried to stop petting her, and batting her big browns at her. She also sassed me for the first time LOL!! She is used to me carrying her everywhere now so when I set her down she put her paw on my shoe and quietly whined for me to pick her up. I said you're ok just lay down there for a minute...which she would normally go right into a down and wait patiently. But today she immediately went "BARK!!!!" LOL I said did you just tell me NO??? (so I picked her up and held her...what the heck we're retired from obedience now!) :wink:
AH OK you meant kibbles! I have never measured that closely so was thrown LOL.
Well there is one area Amy and Hallie are not alike...Hallie loves to be groomed, I think partly because of her allergies she is always a bit itchy so it feels good. She will just roll over belly up and shut her eyes. I hope Amy made it though OK! :)
Jen I went to the store today (first time leaving Hallie home alone!!) and got the apple flavor metamucil wafers...is that the right thing? I couldn't find anything that said "bars" on it and the pharmacist didn't know of them either so I am hoping this is the right thing? They had apple and cinnamon...

Yes those are the bars I use I just spoke wrong... my guys love the apple ones in fact I think those are the only kind I have ever bought. Start out slow like 1/4 of the bar if she still has problems increase it bit by bit or if she gets stopped up back off some... there is no perfect dose so just trial and error.

Good I'm glad they are the right one...bars would be a better name than wafers for them, they look more bar like than wafer like. Glad I got the Jen Kids approved flavor too. :thumb: I'm sure she'll love them thanks Jen!

I have no experience with this, because Gretl-Angel was in jail before my time, but I have heard about it. You are already soooooo good at the L@@K, so I think just milking it would be your best option - for now!
Brekke I'm glad someone is worrying about me. I have it so rough!! Yesterday Mom took me to a horse show and it was fun for a few hours. But then we came home and had a whole TWO HOURS of doing nothing but napping!! Thank goodness we left then to my vets bonfire, which I was the only puppy at so was center of attention. I helped Mom eat a yummy plate of food and I even gots to swim! Then we got home at 11 and I had 10 (TEN) whole minutes of being BORED while Mom brushed her teeth and stuff. It was awful! Then we slept all night and now I just got up and had breakfast and we're on our way to a dachshund picnic. But I might have another few minutes of being bored today later so keep worrying about me okay? :thumb:
