Porky here- I had a bad day today. My parents were trying to clip my nails and I did not like it one bit!! So...when momma finished with the first paw I wanted to show them how mad i was. And then I bit my daddy!!! :doah: I still can't believe I did it and have been trying to apologize since. I feel so bad. I just didnt know how to tell him those nails hurt. I think he's not mad at me anymore, but I lost my treats that I always get when they clip my nails.
I have never bit anyone before. I have put my mouth on people to give them warning when they were being mean to me, but I never bit down. I even licked daddys hand after I bit him. I feel awful. How can I make it up to my daddy? I dont want any more of those ouchie spankings for biting. Ive been moping all day since I did that horrible thing. I even watched tv with momma and I hate to sit still for that long!!

Willy here -- I bit my daddy, too, after a test of wills over me getting off the bed cuz it was not time for bed yet. I got sent to my cave for a long time after that happened. But I've always been hard-headed, and that was the last straw. Thats why I'm in obedience school now, learning some manners. I've already calmed down quite a bit and listening better. Don't know how you could have told your daddy that getting your nails done hurt, tho. He'll probably get over it, and everyone just needs to be more careful in the future. Good luck Porky.
Oh Porky Pie....poor little guy. I'm sure you feel really bad about biting your daddy. Maybe you could tell your mama and daddy to try the grinding tool that some people here use. I think it's called a dremmel? A lot of people say that it doesn't hurt at all like the clippers can sometimes. Or maybe your mama could take you to a groomer or pet-smart or maybe your vet to get your nails clipped. Buelah, Oscy and Toby get the nails clipped at the vets and he only charges five dollars. I'm pretty sure that most vets do that.
Anyway....you guys will work it all out. Just be a good boy and give your daddy lots of love tonight. Smooches sweet Porky!
Dis is Dolly. I bet you feel real awful about biting your daddy. And I bet your daddy has forgibben you by this time. I has a confession to make. I bitted my mommy once. I even made her bleed. It happened when I had to go to the mean ol' Vet and the Vet stuck that thermiator thingy up my hiney. Mommy was holding me and I was outraged that I'd have anything stuck up my bottom. So I did what I thought was just at the time. I chomped on mommy's thumb. Right away, I knew I had done the wrong thing and apologized profusely for the holes I put into mommy's thumb. Mommy wasn't happy with me for a while, but after a while, she did forgib me. I felt really bad about biting my mommy.
Porky here: I think my daddy has forgibben me now. He was giving me hugs and kisses earlier. I still feel pretty bad and am sulking about it, but I think we will both be ok.
Momma has tried that dremel thingie and it is waaay too scary for me!! I act like a devil dog when she gets that thing out!! Momma has also taken me to the vet to get my nails clipped, but since we moved she hasn't found one that doesnt get grouchy when we ask. I think I will start going to the grooming place in town and get used to those people. Momma says that way if they ever have to go somewhere I cant then they can board me there too. They only charge $5 for a bath and nail trim and glands!
I am very leary about groomers because of something that happened to Porky 2 months ago. We were trying a new groomer out and I had to drop Porky off and go run errands. When I came back I heard Porky screaming like never before. I went in the room where they were groomng him and saw him strapped to the table and in a muzzle! I was so shocked and angry that they would treat him like that. He is a handful when he gets his nails done, but scaring him about it more by restraining him with straps and a muzzle only made it worse!! I turned the lady in to the humane society and got her shut down. They found out she was doing it to every dog! It was quite sad.
Oh my God, how awful about what happened to Porky at the groomers! Thats terrible, I'm glad you got her shut down.
Another thing you could try........take Porky for a daily walk on pavement, it will get those nails trimmed down without all the grief.
Dis is me Rudy....I hate de nail thing too.....my mama dremels ours and sometimes I dus don't like to sit dere for dat - eben dough it dund't hurt....so I nipped my mama too.....I felt bad and she did forgive me.....
Barb here - where I started with the dremel - I would just sit on the couch with the puppers and run it - not touching anything - just getting them used to the sound. Then I would play and touch their feet with it while it was turned off. I did that for a couple weeks before actually starting to use it and was very slow in beginning to use it. One or two nails a night at first and just tapping a couple times instead of constant grinding. It is definatly a work in progress getting them used to it. Mine don't love it - but tolerate it and they always get a Toe Treat afterwards !!!
Porky - lots of walks on the pavement really is good for keeping nails naturally trimmed. I still have to have my nails trimmed periodically as mom and I don't do a lot of walks on the pavement. We mostly stick to grassy areas, however, Abbie gets a lot of payment workout when mom takes her on runs with her and hardly ever has to have her nails trimmed. :wink:
