I wasn't too sure about going to class last night. We got there and there were a lot of dogs in the parking lot, waiting for the other class to get done. I gave mom the look that said, lets go home now while we still can. But we stayed. I never even barked at the other dogs. I get shy when I'm away from my pack. In the class, I was the oldest and the shortest dog. But at least I wasn't unruly and whining and carrying on like some of those other dogs. I was very intent on mom cause she had the treat bag and I had had no dinner. The instructor had said to bring us dogs hungry so we'd pay attention to what we needed to do for those treats. We worked on Sit, Stand and Down. I had never learned how to Sit in the first place, so it was all new to me. The instructor gave the humans lessons in how to get us dogs to sit and lay down and all that. Those exercises came with lots of treats, so I played dumb. Not really. Later when the instructor was giving a lecture on what we were going to cover next, I stood intently in front of mom. Then suddenly, I just sat my butt down. That brought forth an immediate treat from mom!!! So I tried it again a couple more times and it worked.
Patty here - Willy was very good at the class. We will spend the next week working on Sit, Stand and Down. I have this Friday off, so I am going to take Willy up to the family cabin Thursday night, and we will stay until Saturday. I need to go up there and check on the place for my folks, it will give me some one-on-one time with Willy and we can work on his training without distractions. I will hate like heck leaving Alex and Misty, but this will give me a good opportunity to work with Willy. I also really need a break from everything, and time at the lake is just what the doctor ordered.

It sounds like you did great in school! Is this a recurring class or just a one time thing? Just listen to your momma and concentrate and you'll be sitting like nobody's business!
Hi Jenny, my class runs for 7 weeks. Then it will be Alex and Misty's turn. Don't know if mom will be able to get them in a class this fall, or if we will have to wait until next spring. And you never know, they may offer a class during the winter since its indoors. Later, mom will have the opportunity to put me in more advanced classes if I learn my stuff well. Mom really likes the instructor, and I have to admit, she's pretty cool.........she gave me treats!!!
