Willy here: I think this is going to be a good thing. I will be learning a lot of good things. The instructor will teach mom how to change my behavior with positive reinforcement for doing good things rather than punishment for doing bad things. Mom was told to bring the best of the best premium treats, like hot dogs and cheese, when she takes me to my first class next Tuesday. She also has to bring a tug toy and a chew toy. This sounds like fun! This week our homework is to teach me to walk by mom's left side, with mom keeping my attention with lots and lots of treats while we walk.
Dis is Rudy Ivey......shhshhshshshshsshshshshshs Willy........be very quiet about this........I hope mama doesn't read this.......it may be ME going to school too....... Guess ya never get too old to go to school, huh?????
Remember......mums the word :thumb:
Chilie here: Uh-oh. Mom's gonna read this and get ideas! Willy, if dis works for you, she just may send me! Mom says da walking thing would be really good for me to learn. But hey, if you're getting premium treats, then I guess it isn't all that bad!
Good for you and your Mom Willy! I think you'll both have a lot of fun. Who knows maybe you'll get bit by the bug and do some shows!
Willy here: Thanks guys for the vote of confidence. You gotta understand my mom, if she doesn't have something big going on, a project of some sort........such as building a house, or learning how to drive draft horses in Anchorage traffic (YIKES!), she goes absolutely berserk! She gets depressed and cranky and NEEDS SOMETHING TO DO. So, gues what? I'm her current project. But thats okay, it will be fun having one-on-one time with mom, and I know she loves me and loves working with animals. This gives her something to look forward to and be excited about. And you never know, maybe we will be good at it and want to pursue competing in shows. I am a pretty sharp cookie, you know.
Ahhhhhh the completed project syndrome....... LOL !!!! You are one smart cookie Willy - and the one on one with mom will be great !!! Can't wait to hear about your first class!
Pssst, Dolly and Maddie here! Dat's gweat! At da skool, youse get to twain yer Mom! Dis should be vewwy good for Dachshund Domination. And PWEEMIUM TWEETS???? It don't get any better den dat! You go Willy. YOU DA MAN.....er.....DAWG. Be sure to tell us what other doggies are there to twain dere hoomans.
Sgt here - my momma said my grandmommy is taking Koby & Tiff to obedience class too. She said they are good doggies, but need to work on some listening skills. Of course momma said I need some listening skills too. I hope momma doesn't get any ideas about taking me or Libby to class too.
I hadn't thought about the fact that your mom had completed so many projects Willy. With the house done and the other one sold, I guess she does need something to do. Nothing could be better than spending time with you. After she has you trained or you have her trained, it will probably be time for Neeki to be learning some new tricks. She is two years old now, right?
Patty here: Oh yes, Barb, I get major Completed Project Syndrome. I was flying so high all winter watching our house being built, and when it was finished and we moved in, I just cratered! Thankfully everything doesn't have to be as big as building a horse ranch, and I am SO excited about Willy and I going to school. By the way, I think there are just 5 or 6 dogs in Willy's class (max would be 8), and there are two Willys and a Wylie.

Thats right, Neeki is two now, and need to get our lightweight, no frills, dude saddle out and put it on her so she gets the feel of it. There is a lot we can do right now in preparation for training her for riding when she is three. We will hire a professional to help us out with that part.

We just got our phone! We are holding off on internet service for the time being as we get a lot more done without computers at home. BUT.....I do have recent pictures, I need to get Dan to download them onto a CD for me so I can take them to work and post them. Will work on that. Thanks for your interest.
