Title: Trying to maintain an even keel
Post by: PattyInAK on June 28, 2006, 09:32:53 AM
Dan is back from his dad's funeral in CA.  It was a beautiful service, he was given full military honors, a flag on his casket, 21-gun salute, the whole works.  Dan was presented the flag.  What an honor!!!
Four men in the men's choir sung the song that Dan's father had requested for his funeral -- Home on the Range -- and I guess they did a wonderful job.  The service was recorded, so I will get to listen to the whole thing.

The sale of our house is going well.  The appraiser had just one small "repair requirement" (front steps railing) that we took care of yesterday.  The buyers should arrive tomorrow with their three horses from Kansas.  We could possible close on Friday!  Keep your fingers crossed.

Yesterday Dan and I switched Escapes so we  could get some work done on mine at the repair shop where he is General Manager.  Well, they failed to latch the hood properly and when Dan was on his way home, on the highway approaching 60 mph, the hood flew up.  He managed to get over to the rumble strip so he knew where the side of the road was and he managed to get off the road and stopped safely, during rush hour traffic.  The hood is all rumpled, the windshield is broken and the roof has two dents in it.  Dan was extremely upset and went back to the shop and well.....................we don't feel this is a job for OUR insurance company.   Poor Dan, this really pushed him over the edge.

Wow!  That is really scary!  Thank goodness he wasn't hurt!  I agree completely....the garage should be taking care of it.

Oh Patty - poor Dan.....how much can he take?  Glad you are there to watch over him.....I know it is hard for both of you.  The service sounds perfect and what an honor for Dan to get the flag.  Hang in there - we are here for you !  Hugs to you and Dan -

oh, my goodness!  I feel for you two.  I had a blowout on Saturday, and the tire company is figuring out whether it is a defect or wear.  The tire is four months old - sigh!   I know where you're coming from.

How scary that must've been!  The service sounds reallly nice and personal.  Sending rays that the house sale goes through without a hitch.  Sounds like you guys need a break!

Wow Dan was lucky. That happened to me once, nothing like sailing down the freeway and not able to see a thing in front of you. Glad he is ok but sorry the Escape got the brunt!

You are going through an ending and a new beginning right now...life is full of those. Hope yourlife evens out soon! The service sounded great.

Glad Dan is ok and he didn't get into a wreck cause of the stupid hood.  I hate it when people don't take care with their repairs and cause more problems.
