Yesterday, I thought i saw it. Today, I DEFINITELY saw it. Maddie seems to be limping on her right leg. She doesn't carry it, she just limps on it. She also squeals if you come anywhere near it. Now here's the thing. Today was the first day that I noticed some physical skin owies on the back of her right front leg. They feel like burrs or a dried up scabbing owie. There's about 3 of 'em. Could that be what this is all about? I didn't notice them at the beginning of the week. Dr. Powers didn't notce them either, but then again, we were concentrating on her back. I'm making a special appt for nail clips and anals (we usually go to the groomer) so that the Doc can look at these skin bumps as well. If that's the case, then I believe this is good news 'cause these things can heal up. They kind of remind me of canker sores. I'm hoping to get an ointment that will sloff them off. I'll let you know what we find. Thanks again for all the dachsie rays.
That little girl is full of mysteries Sandi! Do you think the scabs are from her biting herself? Have you noticed her bothering that area? Do you think her squeeling from before was connected to her leg rather than her face or eyesight? Boy lets hope that is it, let us know what the doc says. Will you be mentioning your eyesight concern too, maybe he can also check her eyes to at least rule that out. Will be interesting to hear what he says, fingers crossed and prayers coming for both of you!
Sandi, Toby gets these infected hair follicle things from time to time. They look like what you describe with Madderoo. He tends to bite at them and they get all gross like a canker and clearly cause him pain. Our vet had to put him on antibiotics for the infection and he also gave me a misting spray which sort of anesthetizes (yeah...that's spelled wrong I am sure) the area so he doesn't bite at it. They tend to appear close together and usually about two or three at a time.
It's a pain for the poor boy, but as you said, they clear up with treatment. Hopefully it will be something like that. Let us know what your vet says!
I hope that you have pinpointed what is bothering the Madderoo....poor baby ! Hopefully it is something like Toby has had and can be cleared up !!! Let us know as soon as you can ! Smoochies to Maddie and Dolly too !
