Good morning
Every dog has his day and today is mine! Mom has held back from posting or responding to any messages in the fear that she couldn't contain herself and leak all of the details about me before my big day. It was killing her. She will try to post some pics at the end, but isn't real good at that, yet.
Without further ado.... here's Frank
Full Name: Just "Franky"
Everyone Calls Me: Franks, Frankenstein, "Bitey" (!), Buster Brown, Mommys Handsome Man, etc
Age: 10
Gotcha Day: June 1998
Birthday: 12/7/1996
Who I live with: Mom, Dad and fursis, Delilah
Hometown: Lehigh Valley, PA
Length from base of neck to tail: about 24 inches
Height from ground to top of head: I gave up on this one
Height from ground to belly: Ditto
Weight: At his last Neuro check-up he was 22lbs, but that was after two cycles of steroids and 2 months of crate rest. His normal weight is around 19lbs
Hair Color: glorious red with subtle black sprinkles
Eye Color: Soulful Amber
Coat Type: Sleek and Smooth
Favorite People: Mom & Dad, Dee, my Gram, Nana & Popster, all my extended HuFamily, and oh yes, I LOVE kids
Favorite Toy: My Squirrel and anything I can de-fur (not de-stuff, I just like to pull all of the fur and strings out)
Best Treat: I love carrots, chewies, and ice cream
Worst Torture: Being left alone and SHOTS (ouchies!)
Where I sleep at night: In my specially designed habitat... a play pen set up right next to mom with my bed, toys, and crunchies. See, I used to sleep with mom and dad, but I'm a jumper. I had surgery for bad discs in my neck in November, so no more jumping allowed.
Favorite Pasttime: racing around like a mad-man, napping, defurring my toys, trying to get more belly rubs
I am a Hunter: Yes or no: No, unless insects count. I have the drive and instincts, (almost got a bunny once) but mom says "NO!"
What do I do when my Hoomans are away: Get very sad and cry, but my fursis keeps me company til mom and dad get home
Favorite Things: My people, food!, a good roll on the carpet or grass, going Bye-Bye, kisses and belly rubs
Story about me that my Hoomans would like to share:
We took Frank in after hearing that his owner was getting rid of him. We were "dog people" but not Dachshund people at the time. This glorious, fiesty red spitfire instantly changed us into full fledged Dachsie fanaitcs. He has been an indescribable joy and the center of our world since. Despite his sometimes bitey nature with strangers, even "non-dog" people (like my in-laws) fall in love with him. The last year was very tough on all of us because Frank has IVDD and had to have three herniated discs removed from his neck. After a lot of ups and downs, we are happy to say that he is recovered and has been more "puppy-like" than we've seen him in years.
Two more pics.....
Awww, Franky, I love your soulful amber eyes. Your are so handsome and I know why you made everyone doxie fanatics! I'm glad you are doing great from your surgery and are back to playing like a puppy again. I hope your Day is wonderful (not that everyday with the family that loves you so much isn't). Tell Mom she can start posting again now!
