Full Name: Cocoa
Everyone Calls Me: Queen, Cocoa Beans, Beanie, Brown dog
My collar says “I am the Queen”.
Age: 16
Gotcha Day: Labor Day, 1991
Birthday: unknown 1990
Who I live with: Dianne & Ken, fur brother Patches
Hometown: North East, MD
Length from base of neck to tail: 21” (28” total length)
Height from ground to top of head: ya kidding right?
Height from ground to belly: 4”
Weight: A Queen never tells…although Momma has me on a diet and I am quite “buff”!
Hair Color: Chocolate with white points…used to be chocolate with red points
Eye Color: big, brown and beautiful
Coat Type: Smooth! I have a bald belly and a rat’s tail.
Favorite People: Dad
Favorite Toy: I kill the squeaky ones first
Best Treat: Pigs ears!!! Food…any kind…human food preferred
Worst Torture: Leaving me at the Vet. What can they be thinking?
Where I sleep at night: Between Mom & Dad in the big bed. Sideways so I can touch both. I wake Mom up by laying my head across her neck whenever I need a drink of water or a pee in the middle of the night. If she doesn't wakeup, I lick her face until she does. (You have not lived until you've been french kissed out of a sound sleep by a doxie!)
Favorite Pasttime: Chasing critters and digging out moles
I am a Hunter: Yes! Snakes, bunnies, squirrels, moles, voles, mice…no varmint is safe! I kilt them all! I could be a “ground dog” and do not hesitate to go down into a ground hog’s hole! Momma always frets about the “rabies”.
What do I do when my Hoomans are away: Snoooooze with Patches! Bark at anything that comes into my yard.
Favorite Things: Treats and HUNTING! Walkies are OK too.
Story about me: I am the Queen of this house and the Alpha leader. I do not recognize size…I kept the neighbor’s Italian Mastiff’s under my paw. However; all humans are safe with me. Babies are just big puppies and I will guard them and and keep them safe.
Dad is mine. If Mom goes to kiss Dad, I get between them with my nose. If they argue I hide. I sit with him and glare at her. The first time Dad went on a business trip, I climbed up on the big bed (not an easy trick for a dog with 4” legs) and peed on Mom’s side. I wanted her to know who was in charge while he was away.
Dianne here…
Cocoa was our first rescue when she was 1 year old and she has been the best doxie anyone could love. Because of her, 4 other doxies have been rescued. Because of Cocoa’s age, we now only take geriatric doxies and Patches is the latest. Our eldest son introduces Cocoa as his sister.
Pictures later!
What a great story about Cocoa! 16 years old? Wow, that is great. Can't wait to see pictures!
Great DOD write-up Dianne.
Happy DOD Cocoa! Sounds like you are quite the mighty huntress! I hope you get extra treats today.
Dianne - Sgt wakes me up the same way in the middle of the night, but instead of laying his head on my neck, he sits just above my head on the pillow (usually on my hair) and then reaches down and kisses me.
Oh Cocoa, you lovely senior wiener! You are VERY active and my grrrrls bow to your prowess as a huntress. I hope you get extra treats on your day. Happy DOD your majesty, the queen.

Cocoa, this is Buelah and I BOW to you! I'm just three and I AM the QUEEN in my house. That story about peeing on mama's side of the bed...I'm right with you sister! Mama travels more than daddy so I guess it's gonna be HIS problem!
Have a great day!
Wow, Cocoa - I do believe you are the senior lady dachsie on this board. It sure sounds like you rule the place! I love what you do when the hooparents argue!
