Sgt here: Dad got the news this morning that he got the job in Okinawa he applied for. It is a teaching position and will be a 7-4 job with no weekends! There is lots to do to get ready. Libby n' me have to go get a blood test, and Libby is getting scheduled for her surgery to get spayed. Momma is going to take us to petsmart to let us try out airline kennels. She is trying to decide if we are carry-ons or baggage. Momma wants us to be carryons, but then she needs to teach Libby not to bark at everyone. It is going to be a loooooooooog trip. We are going in December, and there is lots to do to get ready. We will still get to keep in contact with our doggy friends on the board, and now there will be a flag on the member map in a new country! Momma said she is stressing out already, so I am giving her lots of lovins.
Hey Julie! I got your email on this earlier. How EXCITING! I sure hope we can get together before you leave!
Wow, big change, but what a great adventure!!!
what pity you did not manage Australia, but at least the guys are with you and it sounds a great job.
Roberta
Wow. Congratulations on getting a great job! Good luck with the move and all the chores to get done beforehand.
Wow! Congratulations. I hope Sargeant and Libby find new dachsie friends in their new home! Libby, remember not to bark at the people so that you can ride in the passenger part of the airplane. :apls:
That is SO exciting !!!! Thanks to the Internet we are still able to keep tabs on you no matter where you go ! Congrats !
Why I love Japan ........
Congratulations on the move to Japan! :hello2: I've always envied the fact that Japan exists as a station more easily accessible to the AF then Army. Get those pups ready!
Wow!! That's really neat. I hope that you and your family enjoy being over there. Is this for the Air Force? I wasn't sure if your hubby was active duty or not. My brother is in the Navy, and he and his family just returned from Japan after being stationed there for three years. They just got back on Sunday! They were in Yukoska, which is near Tokyo.
I've heard that LH doxies are very popular in Japan. My sister said she saw a lot of them when she visited! I hope that Sgt and Libby get to be carry-ons on the plane with you. It's a long plane ride, and I'm sure you would feel a lot better if they were with you. Good luck getting ready and congratulations to your hubby on his new job!

It is a 3 year tour. Eric only has 4 years left until he can retire, so we are hoping we can move back to our home base (Tampa) for the last year.
Congratulations on the new assignment! When Dave was active military (Army and AirForce)....he is now retired, he was stationed in Okinowa for a year :thumb:!
(Sorry I am late in posting!) Ah so desu ka! Translated: Oh, is that so? I have friends in the Far East, because my friend, Brenda, and I, have had exhange students over the years. I think you will like the Orient, and we certainly found our "girls" to adore dachsies! We had a couple of Taiwanese, a couple of Chinese, a couple of Koreans, and a Japanese young lady. Mioko is from Tokyo and we still correspond with most of our girls.
Ruth - is that one of your granddaughters? I must dig out my yukata - summer kimono -I may wear it for Halloween at school this fall. It is red with dragonflies, and has a golden obi with matching shoes.
Yes ..... that is my granddaughter ....... my DIL is from Japan.
