Bites that is. We had to go over to his grandparents house after dinner and as always he hightailed it to the backyard (1 acre yard & 1 acre woods) to make sure it was safe for me to go back there!!! Well, suddenly Mr. Groundhog runs out of the weeds and heads for the break in the stone wall. Clifford quickly (for a 12 yr old guy with a fused spine) ran after Mr. G and got a chomp in before Mr. G turned and tried one of his own. There was no connection made on our hero and the opponents retired to their corners (quickly thru the wall & reluctantly responding to "come").
Clifford then decided to graze on some new long grass to get rid of the taste of that BIG old groundhog. He felt pretty proud of himself for quite a while. Mr. G was bigger than Clifford and had to weigh a good 25 lbs.
And he knows no fear!!! Clifford the might hunter!
Although, I worry about rabies whenever Cocoa does that!
Wow, Cliffie! You had me worried there for a second. I read your stats wrong. I thought that ol' groundhog bit YOU! Well, my grrrrls are :hello2: as we speak. They are PROUD of you. Dachshund Domination is well on course.
:hello2: Brekke says, "Way to go, Mr. C!" I only get to chase the cat Bastet (any Amelia Peabody fans in here?) when I get to go see Auntie Brenda, my niece, Mocha, Lassie the Sheltie, and Chesi the Shih-tsu. Heheheh - the cat Bastet stayed outside for three days on my recent visit , 'cause I bark lots at her!
Wow, Clifford you lucky guy, all we gets to chase is them pesky squirrels. We bets that Mr. Groundhog will keep a safe distance from you from now on!

Way to go Cliffie!!! You show those critters who is the boss. Lily is envious and wants to come critter hunting with you.
Would this guy hurt a fly?
Smooch, smooch, smooch all over your sweet face
Maybe this guy wouldn't hurt a fly, but its clear from his expression he's not about to take any guff from rodents.
Oooooooooooooooooooo Cliffie ****Swooooon*****
Will you come to my house and get the g-hog (backyard terrorist) that has moved into my yard??? U da dawg!!!!!!!!!
Gwennie says "Way to go Cliffie!"
You may be getting older and more mature, but you are still all dachsie and courageous to the point of rashness as the the breed standard calls for.
Scally, the mixed dobie, used to take out groundhogs on a regular basis. Of course, she had a huge size advantage over the groundhogs (and dachsies for that matter). She once brought one of her "kills" to me while I was on the phone. I was talking to someone and I just stopped myself and yelled "SCALLY!".
She was actually part of the ecosystem in the landscape company's yard. Once she passed, there was a population explosion of grounhogs and they all scattered...over to the adjoining golf course.
Good job Cliffie, scoring one for the seniors!
