Title: Members living in IL or WI
Post by: Stacey on May 17, 2006, 01:05:16 PM
My family and I are planning a vacation during Forth of July (Friday - Wednesday) to Wisconsin Dells. We were looking to bring our two dogs with (mini dachshunds) but every place we call that accepts pets state that you can not leave your pet unattended....  This is a problem because we plan on going to waterparks, fishing, go carting and such....  So, now I am looking into boarding them, but have such a hard time doing so without having referrals.  My aunt works for a kennel and has told me horror stories (she has since quit) and it really bothers me!!  Have any of you boarded your dogs at a reliable place that is also resonable????

I've been boarding my dog (a pug) at Pet Lodge in Middleton about twice a year for the past four years or so. They seem pretty good. The dogs are always separated by the cage to prevent any aggressive outbreaks. Albert seems fine to go there, at least doesn't appear to resist or whine.

This place is located not far from Highway 12-18 (the Beltline) so it's an easy drive from there to the Dells (not sure, about 30 minutes?)

I don't recall the daily rates. They do charge a small extra fee for individual play time. They will also groom for a fee. Their number is (608) 831-8000.

Hi Stacy,
You might be to check with your vet.  They usually have a pretty good network and might be able to steer you in the right direction.  With the vets recommendation you might feel more comfortable.    Good luck and have fun on your vacation!

I would check with your veterinarian for a good and reliable place.

Its never easy to leave your kids at a place you are unfamiliar with.  Hopefully your vet can help locate something that "feels right".     Maybe the one reference that janeygirl posted will pan out !
