This has happened twice now. I was on the computer the other morning, and Lara was playing in the family room. She wandered into the kitchen, which is her favorite spot in the house. I don't mind her going in there unless the oven is on; she usually just goes in, admires her reflection in the oven door and then comes back into the family room. Well, after a while, she was still in the kitchen, and it was pretty quiet, so I decided to go and see what she was up to. I found her over by the kitchen door just standing very still, and I could tell something was in her mouth. At first, I thought she'd gotten into the trash, but when I walked over to her and took the morsel out of her mouth, I realized it was a piece of Chilie's dog food! I told her, "No, that's Chilie's food. We don't eat that." I don't think she liked the taste of it, because she had no problem giving it up! However, I caught her with another nugget last night. It's rare that Chilie leaves anything in her food dish, but from now on I'd better be on the lookout whenever she does!
Chilie here: I don't mind sharing my food wif my hoosissy. She always shares her food wif me! Mommy says she's at da point where she KNOWS dat I will eat her food, and she gives it to me ON PURPOSE! Woohoo! De upsides of habing a hoosissy are starting to show demselves! :thumb:
I'm surprised she went for it more than once. Of course she will soon be at the age where she will go for the food just to see if she gets a reaction from you! I remember Meghan doing things like that and then grinning at me. It was like this little personality she had was really starting to expand. I agree, though, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check Chilie's bowl after she is done eating.
Chilie, all the doxies here with husissies told you it would become fun. Now you see that they were right and it's worth having an ear or your tail tugged on every now and then!
LOL !!! Too funny !!! I am surprised she went for another morsel too......... Just making sure she didn't judge it to hastily !!! Got any new pictures of your girls ?
LOL that is too funny. I can't believe she went for #2 either and Hallie says she can't believe Chilie left a piece of FOOD in her dish!
Beth,
My almost 21 year old son Justin used to constantly eat dog food as a small kid! He liked it as much as potato chips............lol
Don't worry, he is grown and in college now, and only barks occasionally. lol
Dottie
LOL....gotta give the girl credit for being persistant! :thumb:

Crack me up !   :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:
LOL! I never thought that you all would find it funny that Lara went for Chilie's food twice! It's the same as when kids ask to have a bite of baker's chocolate; no matter how many times you tell them it's bitter and they won't like it, they still want it!
Elf feeds the dachies and always picks up the pieces of food to feed them by hand. Sometimes she will offer it to them and then eat it herself. David goes nuts and gets all excited about her eating dogfood, but I just go take it out of her mouth without giving a huge reaction. She likes the feel of it on her gums I think more than the flavor. (She's currently cutting her bottom molars TOO much fun!) She actually has eaten some of it or gets mad when I take it out of her mouth but as far as I can tell she's not been hurt by it.
So Elf is using the food as a teething method! LOL! Lara already has one of her bottom molars in, and the other three are poking their way through already. She hasn't done too bad with them....I've been sure to keep the Anbesol on hand. I know it's a temporary relief, but if it's enough to get her to go down for a nap, then that works for me!
So have things calmed down for you now? I was reading all your posts about what's going on....I would have lost my mind by now! :verdict: Hugs to you for being strong and getting through it!
Jessica never took an interest in Max's food. That's usually because Max finishes up his food. If Max does walk away, we pull his food and dump it.
The water dish, is another story. Jessica likes sticking her fingers into his water and playing with it.

Lara loves to play in Chilie's water, too. I've cleaned up my share of spilled water bowls! I finally got smart and bought a weighted food and water dish!
Elf will go and STAND in the water dish if I don't watch her like a hawk. Crazy toddler! lol she is getting her bottom molars in (at least on one side) and has the top ones already so I'm hoping this teething thing stops soon.
