Title: Potty Training questions
Post by: Danhercules on April 19, 2006, 02:27:56 PM
I have a 5 mo old female mini longhair. I think we are doing fairly well on the potty training as far a number 1. number two on the otherhand I am having some problems with.  My question is, how long before she should be only going outside, aside from an accedent here and there? I just dont know if she should be 100% by now or if it takes 8 months.  Thanks for the info.

I would say a year for a pup to be totally reliable--sooner if someone is home during the day to promote a more intensive training.
Sounds like you are doing very well, so far!   :apls:
Tell us more about you and your dog.

I took us a good 8 or 9 months to get Penny totally trained outside! Keep at it - it will pay off!  :thumb:

Great. I just want to make sure I am on the right track and not expecting too much from her.  Thanks again!

HA!  A dachshund who is 100% dependable?  Hummm....not in my house!  It sounds like she is doing really well for her age.  Consistancy is the trick.  I remember standing outside in the snow with my Buelah at that age.  Not fun but she finally got it.  LOL...most of the time!
She is absolutely adorable.  Post more pics if you have any!  It's always fun to see new furkids!
