Title: Roscoe the Destroyer
Post by: Krista on March 20, 2006, 01:17:43 PM
It's been so long since my dogs have destroyed anything that I nearly forgot that certain things must be protected from their reach.  I was reminded of this lesson this weekend.

Roscoe wanted a chewie.  I didn't give him one, because I was specifically waiting until later when I would be doing some work to give the three of them a chew.  I was doing some housework and I kept hearing strange noises.  I went to investigate and found Roscoe had completely destroyed the charger for my bluetooth headset (the wireless cell phone headsets).  It must have fallen off the shelf it was sitting on and he nabbed it to gnaw on.  What's worse, is I can't seem to find a charger by itself that will work with this headset.  So I'll probably just have to buy a whole new headset.

He's going to be 6 in a few weeks, but I guess he still has some mischief in him.

Have your dogs destroyed anything lately?

Oh no!  That really sucks that the one thing Roscoe had to find was your bluetooth charger.  And I'm sure those aren't too cheap to replace.  I guess Roscoe really wanted that chewie!

The last thing Chilie chewed on was about a year ago, when she chewed the heel off of my brand new pair of Guess sandals.  I had bought them while I was in San Diego visiting Kelly.  They were really cute shoes, too!  Black leather high heel slip ons with an open toe.  I still have them, and am thinking about taking them in to see if they can be repaired.  The other heel has a bunch of teeth marks on them.

I'm fortunate in that the pair I have now are not destructive (am I sure they are dachshunds?).  The one I had before these two when I was single and sometimes had to leave him alone for more than 8 hours (he was trained to a potty box so he didn't suffer discomfort) could tell time. If I got home within a reasonable time within the 8 to 8 1/2 hour time frame everything was okay.  If I went longer than this, he would shred something paper - usually a book or magazine.  He got real creative on getting to shreddable objects - he must have been able to climb book shelves.  And when I say "shred" I mean thoroughly.  I would come home to the chosen object reduced to confetti and spread like a carpet all over the apartment.  So when I knew I might be late, I took to leaving an old TV guide on the floor.  This made him happy - he would shred the TV guide and leave other books and magazines alone.

Ahh... the mischief.... The last thing Penny chewed up was Drew's Oakley sunglasses - totally destroyed. That taught Drew not to leave them on the coffee table anymore  :cussing:

Hmmmmmm, maybe I'd better rethink the open suitcase of misc yarn that I got from my dad last week end that's just waiting to be "played" with.........NAH!  My grrrrls are 8 and 9.  They wouldn't have a setback of puppyhood.......would they????

Roscoe, I know you are just the cutest li'l thang but, boy howdy, I bet your mommy was plenty perturbed with you for that stunt. :nana:

Ah yes...the joys of the second puppyhood!
Oscy will be two next month and his rule is as follows.  If I can reach it by climbing on the furniture or if it is left on the floor it is MINE!  If it is MINE I will NOT share it with Buelah and Toby!  I will however play tug-of-war with said item until it does not resemble it's original state in any way!  It is also much more fun if said item in question that is now MINE was something that mama really likes!

That's the rule acording to Oscy!  :)

Cajsa has of course eaten/chewed/destroyed more things than I can count.  That's how she became goat-dog afterall.  :goat:  lol  Thankfully she's not really done it lately except for trying to get some food.  She grabbed the tablecloth (that was really a flannel backed plastic one so not expensive at all) and pulled it so it now has teeth tears in one corner.  She only did that to try to get the bag of oranges she saw on the table though.  She is a crazy dog for sure!

What hasn't Lucy destroyed?  Berman took care of our (new at the time) end tables and coffee table.  Lucy has taken care of the couch, curtains and carpet.  I paid $85 to have the carpet patched and she dug it up again!
