A good thing is coming out of a not so great situation. The past week my grandmother has been in the hospital and it's to the point that she will need round the clock care. As a result Gretchen will be coming to live with Cajsa! So we will be a two dachie household! At some point in the future (like when things settle down or if my grandmother passes) Gretchen may go back to live with my grandfather, but I'm not so sure that will ever happen. So at a sad, but happy time I want to welcome Gretchen to our "pack". We will be going in to visit this weekend and she will be coming home with us on Sunday.
Oh April - I am so sorry about your grandmother. Sending rays to her. How great that you are able to take Gretchen in - I knew a while back you said it was a possibility. Lucky Gretchen !!! Elf will go nuts with 2 of them !!! HA ! One good thing is that you can always take her to visit her mom and dad (your grandma and grandpa). Can't wait to see pictures of both girls !!!
Will keep your grandmother and grandfather in my thoughts - please let us know how she is doing.
April- I'm sorry about your grandma - sending rays and hugs. My grandma had a red smooth named Gretchen. What's crazy is when that dachsie went to the bridge, she got another red smooth and named her Gretchen too!
Hope the girls get along. Have they ever met?
I am also sorry to hear about your Grandmother, but I'm sure Cajsa will enjoy having Gretchen around to play with.Blusky&Manny are alot of company to each other.
April
Sorry to hear your grandmother is doing poorly, but I'm glad that you are stepping in to help with Gretchen. That is a very generous and caring thing for you to do and I'm sure your grandparents will be relieved to know their family member is being well cared for.
My grandfather is missing her already, but they just aren't in a position to care for her right now. My grandmother is still in the hospital and probably will be for a few more days. They are still running tests on her heart. (She has had several heart attacks, congestive heart failure and a quintuple bypass 11 years ago, so it's not the healthiest part of her. She's also diabetic and has been for years with all that entails.) When she gets back home and settled in again with all the help she needs, Paw-paw may ask to take Gretchen back and we would do that, since they wouldn't ask if they couldn't do it. I'm hoping for the best really. My grandmother just had her 78th birthday on Saturday and enjoyed playing with Elf so it wasn't all doom and gloom!
Gretchen is settling in pretty well with us. She's kind of funny about the new arrangement. I think if given time she will be OK. She's still missing paw-paw and trying to find her spot in the big bed! Cajsa is somewhat possessive of the sleeping arrangements, but we think that will even out over the next few days. Gretchen is a sweetie, but she is going to have to learn some manners since she tends to growl at us when we try to take something away from her. We taught her better when she was with us before so I think it'll be pretty easy to do again. It's more important now since Elf will try to give her things and we don't want problems there. David is going to be home Wed. night so I'll try to get some pics up then of our three girls. I'll be taking quite a few so I can share them with my grandfather. He'll appreciate having them.
Glad she is settling in ok - I bet they are missing her a bunch !!!! I am sure they are also thankful that she is being well taken care of. Sending rays to your grandparents ! Where will the fur-girls be during the day? Thanks April for stepping in and taking care of her !!!
For now they are locked in the kitchen with their beds, water dishes and pottybox. They should be OK, if they don't go nuts and get into things that I missed! Tonight will be when I find out about that! I'm going to hurry home after I pick Elf up from daycare.
