Ozzy had his 3-year checkup Saturday. He spazzed out and didn't want the vet looking in his ears, yet he tolerated the temperature-taking and the distemper booster. We gave him Benadryl before to counteract any side effects of the vaccine, and all seemed well.
Saturday night, he was on his back getting belly rubs from Amy. She picked him up correctly, but he yelped in pain. He started walking very slowly, would not shake himself all the way from head to tail, and acted like all he wanted to do was sleep. Something was definitely wrong with him.
Sunday morning, he seemed a little better, so I decided to crate-rest him all day and see what happened. He continued to improve throughout the day; however all he wanted to do was sleep. This morning, he was much more like himself, not all the way 100%, but still vastly improved from Saturday. He kept his appetite, drank his water, pooped, and peed normally the whole time.
I'm wondering if he had a bad reaction to the Benadryl or the vaccine. I don't think it's his back.
Rays to Ozzie that he will be feeling 100% again real soon!
It is always scary when we just don't know wht is making them hurt or feel bad. Sending rays that he is back to himself very quickly !
I would continue watching him and see if he gets better or if the "out of sorts" behaviour continues. Gentle belly rubs to Ozzy!
Hopin' and 'in that Ozzy is 100% today (Tuesday).
