Title: Destruction of Toys
Post by: MindyKay on February 22, 2006, 07:35:25 AM
After reading Teresa's response to the Petco vs. Petsmart question, I got to wondering:  Just how fast can your pupper destroy a toy?

I got Ozzy a stuffed red "bone" covered with white hearts for Valentine's Day, and he had the thing torn open and had stuffing all over the place in 2 hours!!!  Most of his toys lying around are sad remnants of what was once cute stuffed toys.

Chilie can chew the eyes and nose off of a stuffed toy in record time.  It's the first thing she goes for!  She is also pretty quick to rip out the stuffing as well.  She used to have one of those talking Taco Bell dogs, and she tore off the eyes and nose, and then got all the stuffing out of its head.  I had to throw it away because it was so creepy looking!  We too have many toys that are sad remnants of what they used to be.  They're still cute, just destuffed.

My darling Buelah is the QUEEN of the de-stuffers!  If it has a squeeker, she must find it!  If it has two or more squeekers, all the better to destuff!
We also have a toy box full of the destuffed bodies of toys!  I actually tried to give her a plastic ball thinking that if there were no stuffing it would remain intact.  She wouldn't TOUCH it!  Just stuck her pretty little nose in the air and off she went!

Cajsa will de-stuff any stuffed toy we give her.  I've not timed her but if we leave her with it (by that I mean don't bather her chewing/destuffing)  it'll be done in an afternoon.  We generally don't let her do that though since Elf will pick up the stuffing and try to eat it.  Cajsa just sets it to the side and goes back for more!

Bobo has lasted the longest so far with Schatzi. That is only because he was the 18 inch long one and had two squeakers and lots of stuffing to pull out. She always starts with the ears if something has ears on it. Otherwise it is the nose or a foot. I've gotten her a couple of the Dr. No Noys ones lately that do not have stuffing. They have a squeaker in them that you can remove (they have a velcro pouch) and they come with an extra squeaker. I thought they would be perfect. Well, she quickly managed to destroy them enough so the squeaker wouldn't stay in anyway. At least we didn't have stuffing everywhere. Here favorite, so far, has been a Christmas one that had a small Kong tennis ball that fit in a velcro pouch and a long rope. I think the top part was a Christmas bear or something. I got it when Petsmart had their Christmas clearance. She loved it and she really loves the tennis ball. Now I guess I'll just have to get more of the balls since I can't find a non-Christmas version of the toy.

Taffy's toys get pretty ragged after a while, but she hasn't destuffed any of them yet.  She tears them, but I take them away and put them in surgery.  Her favorite toy is Bruce the Fish, from Disney.  She got him for Christmas, and ripped him open within a couple hours.  He was operated on a few times.  I picked up a couple more, and they circulate, lol.  I bought her the Ty baby Cub in Nov, and tho it's ragged, it's still intact, more or less.  She got Ty baby dog and cat for Christmas.  They are still together.  They are about half her size, and she runs around carrying them....quite a sight....and she has more fun with them.

Rudy not only would tear the heck out of anything stuffed, he would get downright anti-social if you tried to take it away from him.   That's why we seldom let him do that.   Interestingly, though, he left Jessica's stuffed toys alone.

Max in his younger days used to like to steal stuffed animals, but he wouldn't destroy them.   Nowadays, he could care less about stuffed animals and prefers to use them as pillows:

George and Gracie can destuff with the best of them!   :headbang:

George especially can desqueak and destuff in record time.  If there was a competition for destuffing he'd win hands down!   :thumb:

He'd get the gold medal.......... :apls:

Gracie isn't too far behind........

Hallie loves her "babies", she checks on them often, grabs one and runs around squeek squeek squeeking it, shakes them ferociously sometimes, but she NEVER hurts them. She is so gentle with them, and has never ripped or destuffed one...which is why I'm sitting here looking at a pile of 67 toys... :thumb:

What a precious picture of Max, David!

I found the toy Schatzi likes today. It is an Air Kong IQ toy. it even comes with an extra tennis ball, so she will be extra happy. The interesting thing she does, though, is try to hide the tennis ball underneath ME during the night. There is nothing like rolling over onto a tennis ball, no matter how small it is. I can move it, but only if I'm very careful about it, otherwise, she will see it and start all over trying to hide it!
