Title: Kleine Still Needs Rays
Post by: Eileen on February 14, 2006, 12:09:11 PM
She was responding well to her being up on the meds until Sunday.  For some reason she got diarreah and went down again.  Now she will not eat and we are having to force her pills into her.  Just one day not getting her pred and she can't walk.  I just don't know what to do for this little dog anymore.  I hate my local vet and the other vet is over 2 hours away.  I have a call into him.  We finally got her pred and a pain pill in her last night and she is a little bit better this morning and standing.  Going home at lunch to check on her.  Have pads everywhere because of the squirts...don't know what caused that.  I just don't like that I can't get her to eat anything...not even her favorites...to get her meds in her.  Has anyone ever used a pill pusher?  Should I try that, because if she doesn't get her meds, she won't get better.

I'm sooooo sorry to hear she isn't doing much better. I haven't used the pill pusher, but maybe someone else has. Hopefully you will hear something from the vet as to what may have caused her tummy to be so upset. Rays and prayers are on their way.

I am so sorry to hear about Kleine's set back.  Rays coming from South Texas.  I have not ever used a pill pusher.  Lily is pretty good about taking her meds with either a bit of cheese or a bit of peanut butter.  When all else fails, I just open her mouth, put the pill as far bak in her mouth as I can and hold her muzzle closed while rubbing her throat and that has worked.

Sending tons more HHHHHHH's & PPPPPP's for Kleine.  I do what Nickie does when mine don't take it too.  But Zeke was always pretty good about it.If they were not well and wouldn't eat I would put canned food into a large syringe and squirt it in their mouth and they would generally eat it then just to get it out of the mouth.  The canned food was like pate so it worked whereas the chunky stuff wouldn't but you could grind it up in a blender.
Hope she feels better soon since she was doing pretty well before.
