I just found out that Taffy's isn't. It has been in the back of my mind that I was supposed to receive a new tag with the number engraved...at least that is what the animal control people told me....and I paid a fee for it....but none ever came.
I called Avid today to make sure that the information on her chip registration was correct, only to learn that they never bothered to register it at all. I would have done it myself, except how do I know that is actually the chip number that is in her....or is she really chipped?
You could say I am a little p.o.ed. I will be down at animal control on Monday with my girl, they will be scanning for her chip, and they will be explaining why she is not registered.
I would SERIOUSLY advise everyone to call and check on the information on the chips in their pets. If she had gotten loose...they would have never known who she belonged to from her chip. :cussing:
Well that is scary - I would be ticked off too... Good advice - to go and have them checked ! :thumb:
That sounds odd. At the Miami shelter, all adoptees are chipped and the adopters are given the registration information that they must send in for the animal to be properly registered. There is a fee to actually have the animal chipped (paid to the shelter) and then another fee to have the chip actually registered (paid to Avid, or whatever company makes the chip and files the registration.
Part of her adoption fee covered the chip...no dog leaves without being chipped (would be a big help if they would register it) and I did pay more for filling the info in and giving it to them to have it done. THey dropped the ball. I am going to have them verify the number on Monday, and I will personally see to it that she gets properly registered.
