Well the horrible old man across the street finally sent me right over the edge! He called the police and the animal control AGAIN and said that my three were barking. The thing is I was home and he did not know it! My car was being detailed and was not there! So...the police came over and what should they find? NO barking puppers! They then tell me that this guy complains constantly about ALL animals in the neighborhood and the complaints have to be checked out. Now remember, this guy has a big sign is his yard that says "Animal Free Yard" and he has lured and trapped the neighbors kitties with tuna filled traps!
So the police were very nice and went off to deal with some REAL criminals.
I spent an hour or so brooding and getting more and more angry.
Finally I took all three of my babies and put them on leashes and marched over to his house. He came to the door and told me to get the **$**###***##***** dogs away from his house. I informed him that they were WONDERFUL little dogs and that he was a big [censored] for not seeing that. I told him that if he harmed one hair on there little heads he would face a woman who's fury he has never seen and never wants to see. I told him that he needed to get a damn hobby and leave the animals alone! Actually I was more of less screaming all of this while on the sidewalk in front of his house. I then informed him that I was going to call everyone I know with animals and we were going to have a parade up and down the street. With balloons and treats so that they would poop all over the street in front of his house!
By this time the other neighbors were outside listening . I am quite sure they thought that I was absolutely demented. The old guy had gone inside and called the police during my tirade. He then came back outside holding a baseball bat and told me that if ANY dog stepped onto his property he would hit them! I must admit that this REALLY set me off and I then told him that if he did that he would not need air conditioning as he would have no windows!
So the police show up and I am still raving. Fortunately they simply asked me to go back to my house and calm down. They told him that he needed to put the bat away.
My puppers are spending the days in the house and in the screened porch so they are fine. It just makes me so mad!
So.....does anyone want to come to my parade! :) I must say that I felt a whole lot better after the tirade! LOL!
I'll bet that was quite a spectacle - too bad there aren't pics for the rest of us to look at. If I lived in your neighborhood I would sign up for the parade right now! :apls:

How about going to your local newspaper about this? Have the reporter come out and take a picture of his sign. You know there are more animal people than non-animal people. I would just try and embarass the hell out of him. PS I would have filed a police report against him for threatening you with the bat. Can you still do that? He had a weapon, my God!
That is crazy. Is there a way to charge him with harrassment or something? It really sounds like he's harrassing the entire neighborhood (not to mention the poor officers who have to come out every time he calls!). Is there a neighborhoos homeowners association or something to go to? I think the media would be a good thing to contact as well. That's just nuts! I don't know what else to say...

Well Terri, is this a costume parade? My girls walked dressed as babies once in a dog parade. I can still hear one little girl saying in her cute little girl voice "Oooooh, look at the baby wiener dogs!" I think the best thing for you to do is to get ALL the neighbors on your side. Then if something happens, you'll have back-up. NEVER let the kids out by themselves unless you are supervising. This guy is phsycho-loco.
I would go to the media as well. This guy is nuts!!
What would happen to this guy if he was caught on camera luring animals into his yard and killing them? I would consider banding together with your neighbors and setting up a round-the-clock watch on him.

The neighbors and I have discussed this and they agree completely. We will be setting up several camera's on the house this weekend although with the furkids in the screened room there is no way he can get to them unless he actually climbed over the privacy fence. Our hope is that we find him coming near the property in which case we can have him arrested. Right now I have several neighbors keeping an eye on things as they are home during the day.
As for his bat....it was actually meant for those mean terrible killer little babies of mine. Which to be honest, is worse than had it been for me. I did threaten to break his windows if he came near them...I think I used a few other words that I would rather not mention but they just slipped right out! Yikes...there goes my reputation!
The funny thing is that during my screaming fit Buelah and Oscy just sat there looking at me as if Mama lost her mind on a daily basis. Toby got nervous when he came out with the bat so I actually was holding him in my arms.
The police officer left his card. I think I will call him and ask him if he thinks that going to the media might be a good plan. I want to be sure that I do not do anything to alienate the police. Especially as they have been so good about all of this.

Media is a great idea...camera's another great idea. He sounds like the type that will go to extreme lengths to harm your babies whether they are on his property or yours. What about OPRAH...she is a major dog lover and why not send her your email about this freakoid. NOW that is Media at work for the better.
Keep the faith and hold your own...you are defintely a hero in my book.

You know I just saw a blurb on the news (I forgot which station) about a high crime neighborhood installing a camera to watch the area. It was on private property and was purchased with private funds and was "manned" by volunteers. It was kind of like a variation of the neighbohood watch idea. This way they had pictures and film if something happened. I think the police were even getting a live feed to one of the cruisers normally assignes to the area.
I just mention this because it might be something you and your neighbors would like to do to keep your homes and pets safe.
I think you need to be very careful of your actions and words. My mother had words with one of her sister's neighbors and the woman called the police to file verbal harrassment charges. Mom was sticking up for my aunt because this lunatic was harrassing my aunt (trying to get her kicked out of the apartment the lunatic wanted to move into). I wouldn't confront the man without a law enforcement person being there and NEVER make threatening remarks towards him or his property. He could break his own windows and then claim you did it!!! It's a shame you, or anyone else, has to be subjected to kooks like this.
Oh, and he doesn't have to climb the fence to do mischief, just lob some meat into the yard....
Too bad I can't round up about a dozen of these darned Moscovy ducks that are plaguing me and send them up to you. He would so enjoy entertaining them on his front lawn :2funny:
Stay away from this nitwit, but do get your camcorder out and start taping. If you can work it, hook it up thru your vcr, and you can tape using the vcr for 4 to 8 hours at a stretch, using your power hook-up. Enlist the help of your neighbors. All you need is to catch this moron in one act of animal cruelty and you have him. Then make sure the local tv stations all get a copy of it.
Do not make any more threats of any kind....don't let him get you. Maybe he will finally drive his wife to distraction and she will do him in.
