Ninya....my little 9 1/2 year old spoiled rotten to the bone loves.........I mean :heart: carrots. We give her baby carrots when she goes outside to potty and the other 2 like them but she is a freak........ about them. She will go to extremes to get one and when the other two get them she fights them for 1/2 or just plain STEALS it from them. Niether of the other two will fight her over a baby carrot or anything else really. My question is can she overdose on carrots? I know humans are not supposed to eat to many because they will turn orange...or something like that. It is a low fat treat and healthy but is healthy to give them to her everyday. I give her around 3 - 4 baby carrots a day. She will bite your fingers off when you give it to her, as if your giving her a piece of steak...she is a monster when it comes to baby carrots. I can buy the biscuits made at the pet store..out of peanut butter or other goodies but she will turn her nose up to them. And then she pretends to she needs to go potty to get one and we go through this every night...pacing back and forth in front of the fridge..kicking her dish...it is driving me NUTS. Thanks, Adela
Sam is my carrot monster and the vet recommended he eat the, he won't eat anything but the baby carrots.
I did a google search and found this answer from a vet:
A: Abi- I see no harm at all in giving carrots. We recommend this to owners whose dogs are overweight and need low calorie snacks. Many dogs really like carrots. If she started losing weight I might suspect she was getting more carrots than she should but otherwise this should be fine.

A friend of mine use to give her dachsies the big carrots a couple times a day and they suffered no ill effects so I don't see the harm.
One of my very good friends had a "carrot monster" a little blk/tan mini smooth she :heart: :heart: carrots and eventually it turned her coat a orangish color. :grin:

Oh Auntie Adela....I LUB de carrots - mama calls me her carrot boy !!!!! I tink she gives me 3-4 of dem chopped into little bites almost ebery day.......we play a game and she tosses de little bites all over de kitchen floor and me and Brandy "sweep" de floor !!!!! We lub de carrots too !!! We aren't orange yet....... hee hee :2funny:
