KNOCK ON WOOD!!!
We've been confining Berman and Lucy to our kitchen since Friday. We have a long kitchen with a wall at one end so we put a baby gate up at the other. We put a puppy pad down for them as well as some blankets, toys and water. They each get a treat when we leave and they are in their "fort".
Not only have they not broken out nor torn up the cabinets or appliances, but they have not had any accidents! We've had the same puppy pad down since Friday! It's a miracle!
Of course when we get home, they go straight outside and take care of business! We were having such a hard time training Lucy that even Berman started to revert back to his puppy days and go in the house!
Also, when you walk in our front door, you don't smell any "special packages" left all over the house! It just smells clean!
AND..Although I LOVE being greeted at the door by 2 very excited puppers, I was always scared they'd run past me (it has happened before) especially if my hands were full or something. Now, they greet me in their "fort".
Thank you so much to everyone for encouraging us to take this step! I may buy some new toys and blankies with all the money we will be saving on puppy pads and Nature's Miracle!
Glad to hear it Jenny!
My three have been confined to the kitchen when we are gone their whole lives with us. They do great in there.
A few other pros to keep in mind: God forbid you experience such things, but if there is a fire or emergency, you can tell emergency personnel where they'll be. Also a burgler is less likely to harm or let an animal loose if they are confined and out of their way. You also know they won't be jumping off furniture and possibly hurting themselves when you aren't there to help.
Keep up the good work!
No packages??? Well, that sorta takes the fun outta things
Seriously, good news. They don't need the whole house to run around in, they SLEEP all day!!!!!!!!! I tell my two when I leave: "No boys, no long distance phone calls and no ordering from the internet."
That is good news! Congratulations!
(aside to Leslie - I always tell mine - "No long distance calls, no parties, and no boyfriends while I'm gone! Be good.")
