Patty in her new kitchen.
Yes, the floor is two-tone. At first we were going to go with the lighter Vintage Maple throughout the whole house, BUT its so bright in there, even on the dreariest of winter days, with the big windows and white walls that we decided to "warm" it up a bit with darker laminate in the living area. The Vintage Maple was way too much of a good thing, the place would be a wash-out on a sunny day.

Hi Terri. I'm glad to hear you like the two-tone floor, it sure helps in establishing the areas in that wide open front room. I will have to post a picture of how we transitioned from dark to light in the hallway. The interior of the house should be done in a couple of weeks, meaning we could actually move in. They still need to do some exterior work, but the house will be fully functional inside. BUT we haven't sold our present home yet. We plan to make the most of the situation and start moving stuff over and get it all put away while we aren't rushed. Then we can have our present home professionally cleaned from top to bottom and that will make it look lots better than it does now with all those packed boxes everywhere.
WOW !!!! YOU match your kitchen perfectly !!!!!! I love the floors !!! Is that going to be an island in the middle? What will it have in it? Thats kewl you will be able to transition slowly and get all put away as you go....any nibbles on your current home?

Thanks, Barb. The floor turned out nice, we are so happy with it. Yes, that is an island. It will have a normal height countertop on the kitchen side, and then a higher counter on the other side where we will put a couple of tall stools. The trash compactor will go underneath.
No nibbles on the current home, but we figure thats due to the holidays. We hope things pick up after the New Year. I'm sure once we get the go-ahead from our builder, we will get things moved over quickly, we cannot wait to move in.
It is coming along so FAST! It looks great. I cannot wait to see you guys all moved in and enjoying it.
Patty, in a word, FABULOUS! I'm totally jealous of your wood floors! And don't you look as happy as a clam. Congratulations on your beautiful home. Is it finished or are you still building on it? How are the kidz doin'?

Hi Sandi. The guys are doing all the interior finish work now -- floor, doors, trim, etc. There's a little more painting to be done, then the plumber will hook everything up and we will be fully functional in the house. They still need to put up the vinyl siding, finish the deck and the front entry. Oh, and lets not forget the Running Horse weathervane that still needs to be put up on the shop/barn cupola!!!
:thumb:The kitchen loooooooooks mighty beeeeeeautiful! I am sooooooo happy for you 2!
I love the way the house is turning out! Do you have wood floors in your current house? When we did it was fun to watch Kendall-angel as she would run after something and often not be able to stop when she thought she should! The look on her face was priceless sometimes, especially if food was involved.
I'm surprised you haven't sold the old house. From what I've read, you live in a very popular part of Alaska. Hopefully it will happen after the holidays. In the meantime, enjoy moving in slowly. We had the opportunity to do that once and it was WONDERFUL. You may be surprised by what you throw away still, even after you've weeded through everything once already. Can't wait to see the pictures of it finished!
It's absolutely beautiful. I love the wood floors. Really enjoying the pictures as it progresses along :)
Spring time party in Alaska at Patty's!!!!!!
AWESOME! Absolutey beautiful Patty. That is SO your and Dan's house. It's exactly what I would picture for your dream house. How exciting that it's so close to being able to move into and your house WILL sell, very soon. In the meantime it's great you can move at your leisure. :thumb:
Wow Patty - that is amazing!
