I'd love to hear what the pathologist had to say. How is he doing? Eating better and playing I hope!
Poldie is eating well and is more active. His coat looks better and his eyes look brighter. He isn't much for playing, but he is bossing us around a bit.
The pathology report is not encouraging. He has a cancer called hemangiosarcoma. It originiates in the capillary beds, and does tend to spread. It does not respond well to chemotherapy. Dogs who receive chemo may live a couple months more than dogs who don't, but Leopold is 13 and chemo is harder on older dogs. Therefore we have decided not to do chemo and leave everything in God's hands.
Our only hope is that we are lucky and it has not spread. While no cancer was found in the upper leg or lymph nodes, that does not mean that Poldie is in the clear, because this cancer travels through the circulatory system and not the immune system. Most dogs succumb 6-8 weeks after the cancer is diagnosed. Please pray that Leopold continues to do well months after his surgery, for that will be a good sign that there are no other tumors.
Jeri
We will be sending mega rays from South Texas that it has not spread. :pray: I am glad to hear that he is feeling better and eating well.

are inbound. Please give Poldie hugs from us. These little dogs are so resilient. I'm banking on Poldie being ok now. After all, I started being owned by a three-legged Doxie who had all kinds of medical problems.
We are sending powerful MI rays and offering many prayers to St Francis for our dear Poldie.
I hope it was caught in time then since it wasn't the best news to get. It sounds like Poldie is feeling better so that is worth it. Prayers and rays going out for you all! {{HUGS}}
Keep the faith, Jeri & Kevin. We've seen Poldie in these kind of tight spots before. Poldie will find a way. He always does.
