Know some of our Wiener Writings folks live in Spain just wondering if everyone is OK heard of the terrible train accident. Patches mom

Spanish Teckels

It is so sweet of you to think of us.  Bless you for caring.  The accident was in Galicia and absolutely horrific.  It is about 8 hours drive away from us.  With so many dead there are hundreds of family members and friends affected, so very, very sad.  Our hearts go out to all of them.

We are well but exhausted since we have just arrrived in the U.K. To stay with my mother till the first week of September.  The drive was five days and four overnight stops and searing heat and traffic turned 4 hour drives into 9 hours a day.  In the car with a/c was fine but comfort breaks far from comfortable!  All ip through France people were passing out on the motorways with heat exhaustion.

The route was Altea, Spain to Dions in Languedoc Roussillon; Dions to Corberon in Burgundy; Corberon to Pont d'Ardres in Pas de Calais;  the Eurotunnel under the sea from Coquelles to Folkestone and then Folkestone right up to the Scottish borders.

Red and Islay are now sunning themselves here in the gentle breeze in the garden and very happy to be here.

Next step is visiting Gail, Ivy and Charlie for a dachsie reunion.

Spanish Teckels, blessed to be owned by Red and Islay.

So did you get to try the Haggis too?   We are still waiting to see a piccie of your Dad in his kilt and maybe you in tartan too.  Any chance?

We are really excited about seeing our Scottish cousins and will try to get some piccies taken.

Do you have good things to chase and hunt in your farmlands?  We are having fun with the squirrels here!

Dad wore his kilt 3 times this summer and even joined a group for guys (and girls !) who wear kilts.  He still only has a black kilt but is looking to get one with the Angus plaid.  I didn't get to go to the Highland coz they only allowed wee doggies from Scotland to be there.  I don't understand that coz I can wee just fine.
Dis is my house.  I am the KING of everything inside the white fence and can run out the front door all the way around to the deck and back in the house.  I hunt chipmonks so they don't dig holes under the porch and squirrels so they don't eat all the acorns.  Dad put the red line to show where the edge of my kingdom is.  Corn and bean fields start about 5 barks on a car ride (or 2 miles) from our house.

This is our mum (left) and auntie janie..............................yes embarrassing. Look at Manu's face. Both had not had kilts on for about 35 years.......................they were taking the two shetlands to a Scottish heritage day.

My goodness what a huge and beautiful kingdom you have to keep you and your Dad busy.  Patrolling the perimeter must be like patrolling Hadrian's wall!  Must be lovely so close to the countryside and farmlands too.  5 barks is very rural.

We are 6.000 barks or around 3.000 km from home in Spain now.  Islay snoozes in the car but I, Red, like to bark instructions till I go hoarse.  Aunty Gail sent us Ivy's designer cuddle shirt ( a thundershirt) covered with kisses and it made me lose count of my barking route and go to sleep too.  Mummy says I am excused duties as the Audi GPS lady who hides under the bonnet knows her way too and can tell Mummy if I am asleep.

Today is Presidents' day at the golf club so we are going to cheer Nana on in her competition - no barking aloud allowed - we will get to celebrate with everybody afterwards too, a wee dram and all that.

Tonight friends arrive from Phoenix, AZ to stay for 5 days so we have to show them around and I have to teach them how to drive on the correct side of the road here.

Woofing in Spanish, French, English and now American is tiring, I wish these humans could talk dachsie.

Very natty indeed, both of you, better socks and boots than white knee socks anyway!  Good on you to still fit into your kilts after so many years too.

Hunter, looks like you have your work cut off patrolling your area.  It looks real nice, and I know you're there to keep it that.  Roberta, I think you and Jane look super great!  Who says ladies over 50 aren't grand, not me!

Hope the dachsie reunion goes great.  Looking forward to pictures.  Can't wait to see them.  Have fun and keep safe.

Glad all the Spanish Teckel family is safe and sound in Scotland!  We are sorry for all the people and families involved in the train wreck.  All this talk of kilts has finally made me wonder what happened to mine...We are just the teeniest weenie bit jealous that you'll get to meet Charlie Boy!  (and see Ivy and Auntie Gail, of course!)  I did meet Auntie Gail about 12 years ago in Washington state.
