I'm curious as to what everyone else uses.I've been using baby shampoo so that I can wash around Simon's eyes but I find that it doesn't clean him as well as I like plus I don't like the smell and it makes his fur feel "slick".The selection at Petco was overwhelming,Walmart had not much and the local groomers had really expensive medicinal types.Last year the local farmer's market had a vendor who gave me a sample of some all natural stuff that I and Simon both liked but he hasn't been back and I cannot remember the name of it.

We use neutragena T Gel (human) as in the past a few have had itchy issues and it is based on caol tar and pure soap. Oliver gets "dipped" most morning after his walk as he runs in open paddocks and bring home a ton of soil etc, so I use pure washing soap in the form of a bar  we call it sunlight out here, and as far as I know that is what the breeder of ours use at the shows.

ollie here don't like getting dipped as i just fit accross ways in da laundry trough.....................but its either that or now runnies after bunnies and being able to run with my cousins for an hour or two

We use KW mink oil shampoo which is made in Sweden and is a professional dog shampoo, very concentrated and is diluted 1 part to ten of water before use, it lasts for ages and keeps their skin and hair in terrific condition.  No itches and no flaking, allergies or other problems ever. KW also make oatmeal and coat- specific shampoos.  The shampoo is so neutral it can be used daily when suggested by the vet or weekly or as necessary.

It is very important to use a specific dog shampoo and not a human one.  Dogs have a different pH level and require a pH level of around 7 to keep the acid mantle of their skin and coat healthy.  Humans have a lower pH level and require around 5.2 to 5.5 to maintain healthy skin and hair.  Human shampoo and soap destroys canine skin and coats.

Islay has very tiny tear ducts and despite an op. as a puppy still gets a little tear staining at the corner of her eyes during the day.  I use Golden Animal Eye Care on a cotton pad each morning to clean gently under her eyes, or plain filtered water if I cannot get the eye liquid, and find this works gently and well.

We are in Spain so I am not sure about suppliers in the States.
