Duggie here......I am a not so happy camper this afternoon.....Mom said let's go for a ride...I was right at the door ready to go.  We get to the car and she puts me in a "booster" car seat for dogs she says.  I didn't like it one little bit!  And, then to top it off, she took me to the doctors!  And, then.......I got three shots!  Two boosters and my rabies!  And, then......the doc put a stick in my ear and said, "Oh, Duggie....you have lots of dirt in your ear!"  So then, he poured some liquid stuff in my ear and then wiped it out and then used the stick again and then he put medicine in my ear!  The dignity!  Oh, and he also did an exam on me!  The only good part was I got to see my hoogirlfriend, Nicole!  She loved me up!  Mom paid the bill and then we went to the truck and she put in that car seat thingy and even tethered me in!  Well I showed her......as she was driving down the road, I got out of the car seat, still tethered but I got out!  Mom was not happy.......she pulled into a parking lot, got me untangled so to speak, was not happy with me and then she put me on the leash ......very short, I may add, and then we headed home!  I was so happy to get home!

Dee here:  Needless to say, the car seat is going back!  Little Houdini managed to get out of the seat...he was stuck between the console in the truck and the car seat.  Anyone use a car seat that they can recommend or suggest.  Guess that is his way of showing me that he was not a happy camper...guess I can't blame him....three shots and an ear clean........Duggie did get a treat when we got home.  The doc offered him a treat and Duggie literally turned his nose up and away on that one.

wez agree Duggie da indignattttyy of it.
Da monsters
mum here Dee Amy has to be in a crate so we don't have to worry and ollie just lies, but not in his Auntie Janies truck mazda B50 crew cab, what she did was buy foam that fits across
seats and boosts them up to window height (push out no way to jump) then if she wants connects them, but they all juat lie there looking out

I've found that dogs either like the car seat or they don't. Mr. Wilson loves his car seat. Ms. Lucy does not, thus she usually rides in a crate.

Any chance that Duggie will get used to the car seat? Keep trying?

Roberta, Sarge-Angel was my boy who would get in the vehicle and lay right next to me for the entire ride, never move.

The particular seat I got will be returned as it just won't work.  There is another one that I may try....totally different style.  I know he likes to look out the window.

Sorry Duggie.  It sounds like it was a trying day for you.  I hope tomorrow will be better.

What we have for Bonnie is a simple belt that connects to the regular car lap belt and then attaches to her harness.  You can adjust it to make it with a lot or a less wiggle room.  We have our so she can't hang herself by jumping onto the floor.  We don't use it much, however, because unlike most dachsies who love to goferaride, Bonnie doesn't like rides much.  I had one other dachsie like this a long time ago.  I wonder if it hurts their ears.  Anyway, I don't drive and usually I'm the one who takes her for her toe chops and vet visits.  We are fortunate to find an excellent vet AND a groomer who has their practices practically across the street.   We like Dr. Kevin very much AND he is a lover of the long dogs.

awwwww Duggster...gotta stay in the seat....bummer for the shots and earmeds

I use a Booster Seat, and have to make the tether very short, because there have been times when they have jumped out, and are sitting on the back seat, looking like they are strung up by a noose !

...it's way safer to strap them in with a harness...

I have harnesses and my boys always wear their harness if going out for walks or in the car.  I feel more comfortable when they are out and about with us.

Be very careful with harness in cars. We and the vets think that was how missies back went as she got caught up in it, the back is still great, but her shoulder gives her trouble off and on and she sees Isabel he Bowen therapist to put it right.

Poor Duggie! You got the works buddy!

Hallie is also a crate baby, I have it strapped down so tight in the passenger seat it's never coming out. (Ron did that for me years ago).  :thumb: I used to have her in a car seat but also was worried what would happen in a wreck to her back as Roberta said. So I went to the crate and I pad the inside sides of it.
