I noticed in the past few weeks that Duncan has 2 nodes on either side of his throat that have gotten bigger.  The past week has seen 2 sets of lymph node aspirations sent to the lab.   First on Thurs were inconclusive and suspicious and the 2nd set on Sat on the way.  His teeth on bad (13 pulled with in 3 week of foster last June) which might account for the throat. But all his lymph were "mushy" which is a red flag.  His seizure rate has risen to one a week in the past 6 weeks.  Through all this his personality remains as "hooman's best friend" which the vet (a former dachsie ownee) remarked on.

Oh dear!  This is worrisome.  Loads of rays for Duncan.  I hope his condition stabilizes and the lumps are just that......lumps.

We are really sorry to hear you are having such a rough and worrying time and are sending you tons of warm and sunny rays and praying the lumps are easily treatable.  The seizures sound frightening, we do hope the vet can get them under control for you both, poor little fellow sounds like he is a wonderful patient.

Thanks for all the rays.  All the aspirations came back as suspicious and inconclusive.  Tomorrow Duncan goes to the neuro vet for a little nap.  He'll have a body scan and since he'll be under they will also check for heartworm and save having that done in a month.
We have up'd his daily potasium bromide (the one that makes he totally food focused) for 3 days to try to get the seizures under control.  He also gets startled easily at this level of dosage.

Well, the tummy scan was also inconclusive so the general feeling is there is no cancer.  The internal lymphs also appeared to be a reactive stage so we are going on an antibiotic to see if that brings them back down.  Our regular vet said she noticed something she hadn't before (nor had anyone else there).  He has fistula (from one of the 13 teeth he had pulled when still at the foster home) on his upper left gum and it would allow food particles to get into the sinus'.  This could cause an infection and (ta da) maybe swollen glands.

So, keep the rays coming please that this is the solution.

Poor little mite.  Fistulas are rotten things and could quite easily be the cause of his suffering.  Rays coming your way for quick healing of the same and that everything else resolves itself positively too.

Poor little man.  Rays for fast healing!

Barb

Nasty fistulas.....hoping that will take care of the issue !!!   So what will they do to close it up?

Glad to hear that there's no cancer. Stormy had a fistula after an extraction and had nasal problems because of it. Hope Duncan makes a complete recovery.

Robbie also had a fistula from a tooth pulling and it caused us a few issues, but he's doing fine now  - continuing rays for Duncan.
