Roberta

Well her op went well and all is OK, but she still was taking ages to go Wee Wee's. so we took her back to Jane our normal vet. We explained what had been going on, she looked back at the history and Amy's urines  specific Gravity was border line low and no blood in the urine either, usual culprit is diabetes...................nothing in any of her blood work, they had felt for stones when she was under nothing. so she asked to get two specimens over the week-end, then she said why don't we see if we can do a quick x_ray to eliminate stones and she had felt something that turned out to be a poo.................no stones, but it did not rule out a soft tissue mass. Then in the x-ray room she piddled and at the end there was some blood, so Jane has put her on different antibiotics to w]after the op and said she would centifuge down the urine from the floor and see what she could see. Well she rang back and said we were to try and get a sterile sample to send of as she could see bacteria in the one from the floor, but we would not know if it was from her non production ofor the floor. So we will find out to-morrow the results. I looked up the antibiotics as since she started them she goes but if she gets excited she piddles, it does look darker now. We are hoping for bad cystitis, I'm just prayer for it not being a hormone (ADH) problem.
She is eating pooing and is  her usual self.
Tues 7th
We got word back from Jane the vet.............no bacteria in the urine but the cyto saw abnormal cells so it is a transitional cell tumour.................its is inoperable, as it is generally where the ureters and wee pipe leaves the bladder. So she is to go in to the vet on thur and they will try and get her to hold urine for a while to get a full bladder then ultra sound. The up side...................yes there is one it stays in situ and it is treatable with a human tumour drug that shrinks it. As she has good liver and kidney function Jane says she has hopefully another few years on the average she said 3-4 years which would see her having a fairly normal life span, but I'd rather she did not have it.
We are upset but , at least we know what it is and  we are going to  do everything to keep her as long as possible. So Rays would be nice if you have any to spare

Just remember, dachshunds don't listen to doctors any more than they listen to us.    We've seen gloomy predictions for our furkids get shattered by a dachsies that were not quite ready to head to the Bridge until they were damn good and ready to go.   Sending rays and prayers your way!

Hilde and I are sending more rays for Miss Amy.  Hoping all will work out for you and herself.

Handle every "Situation" like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
tinkle on it and walk away.
