The gate to the back yard was damaged last summer and on very windy days has a tendency to unlatch and open.  I am always careful to make sure it is closed so that a certain little dog doesn't escape.  Well, yesterday it was windy, but not too bad so I didn't check the gate before letting Danni out for the last time.  Usually Danni will bark up a storm when she goes out, protecting home and hearth from intruders such as plastic bags, well last night not a peep.  After making sure the rest of the house was secure I went to check on her thinking she found the open gate and escaped and I'd have to go find her at 11 PM.  However, when I went to the door there she was sitting and waiting for me, I checked and yes  the gate was still open.  Needless to say Danni got two bedtime cookies. Since Danni refuses to set foot in the snow farther than  6 inches from the porch I won't have to worry too much this winter, but come spring the gate and my sanity will be repaired.
