Merion and I have lost our oldest doxie.  Zack is gone!!  He has joined Zeke, Zelda and Twinkie at the bridge.
Merion and I were at camp-out with her kennel club over the weekend, so we got to spend time with him. He was my Twinkie's grandson and my greatgranddoggy.

Merion was going to take him in next Monday or Tuesday when Dr Pope was available but he was sleeping on Merion's bed and passed in his sleep just now. She asked me to post it here on WW.

There's nothing like having a dachshund tongue up your nose at 3 a.m.

We're sorry to hear of Zack's passing.  I hope Merion can take solace not only in Zack's longevity, but the quality of that longevity as well.   He seemed to be quite spry well into his seniorhood.  Godspeed Zack.

Rich

So long Zack - say hello to Stormy and his brothers and sisters.

Sorry to hear of Zeak's passing Hugs to all.

So many stories we've read over the years about dear Zack.  He truly left just the way he wanted to.....in his mama's arms.  You've got to know that Zack died old and satisfied in years.  Hugs to both you and Merion.

KNow matter how long we have them its still hard, but he was a  lucky boy going to sleep for good in your favourite place.

Merion seems to be doing OK, but its hard because I now live 100 miles away from her!!   Not sure but I suspect this may have been the last of Twinkie's granddoggy's to still be around!!

Dee Dee and Hallie

We are so sorry!!!! Please tell Merion we are thinking of her also. Zack was a very special soul, nothing is harder than losing them. You are all in my prayers.

So sorry to hear of Zack's passing. He's had a good life, but still so sad to see them cross over to the bridge.

Thankfully so far from what Merion is saying Zena has been doing OK. She managed to steal Merion's supper the other night but like I told Merion for her that IS NORMAL!! dinner, coffee, drinks, snacks!!
She piddled where she should not once. Merion says she was up sniffing around Zack before they took him to be cremated, and she has done other sniffing around, but apparently not acting that upset.  I told Merion if she seems to be getting upset, maybe one of those Thunder shirts could help.  Merion and her are snuggling and taking a nap.

I saw a senior doxie posted on FB. its a 12 year old tweenie, named Moe I think.  shorter nose, but white like my Twinkie was. Guess I am still not ready to get another yet.  Aside from anything else i need to get some repairs done to back porch roof. Want that done before I try to go through there to take a dog outside!!

Merion

Roberta he has to look out for 2 Black and Tan bitches....Zelda was black and tan like him. I told him if he didn't get along with Zeke when he got to the bridge his mother would kick his butt for him.

He couldn't get around at the end unless you held him up by the harness and he was getting really finicky about what he would eat.  I'll eat chicken this morning but this afternoon it has to be beef...just like my father in law who had Alzheimer's.  But he liked going new places and sniffing the air and laying in the sun and listening.  We thought he was going deaf but when we went to shows and he was in his crate he would just sit and listen to what was going on around him, while his sister barked.

It was really hard going to work talking to dog people the next morning but I made it through it.

Thanks for all the kind Messages. OK now who is the next senior wiener. Mind is in a fog.  You have some big shoes to fill.

But Auntie Keren - I don't wanna BE da senior weener!

It's O.K., my little stud muffin. Zeke is playing with Roscoe and all his other wiener friends. Just take your nap, now. I love you. :comfort:
I'm 105 years old - cut me some slack!

What a sad week-so sorry to hear that Zack is gone.

Merion

Zack actually passed away Oct. 13, 2011. But the 1 year anniversary is coming up.

It seems like just yesterday. I miss him so much and so does Zena.
