Thanks, all. I'm having a blast with this camera. Elli and Cyrus seem to like it when I point it toward them. Barb ... a friend of ours call his eyebrows, his 'surprise' eyebrows. He is such a nut and so smart!

Roberta ... the camera is new. I got a Canon 50D. It's a lot of camera for the little I know of photography, but I'm loving it and will learn. Best of all is the fast shutter - not many missed shots.

Ruth ... I have a groomer friend who happens to breed wires (only has a litter every few years). She has been teaching me. Ron and I use clippers on him. I can give you the tips I know if you're interested. I can never make him look like my friend does, but I try.

Cheryl

OMG  ...he's so darling!...Love his colors

I would love some tips.  I used to have Ellie clipped,  but she was a soft wire.  Oliver is a real wire,  wildboar ... with some beautiful coloring.  He is beginning to get real FUZZY.

I sent you a message with the tips. I forgot to add that using clippers on him will, over time, make his hair softer. The show dog people use strippers. Strippers look like combs. The base of the teeth is a blade. You put your thumb in this crevace (sp?) and pull the hair out. Sounds painful but Ilsa didn't seem to care. Cyrus is soft-coated so not an issue for us. Ilsa was rough coated so we used strippers on her body but not her face - we clipped her face. Stripping them takes a lot of time. Thinking back over the 9 years we had her, her body and face looked the same. She maintained her rough coat on her body even though she was clipped. Just thought I'd let you know before you clipped him (or had him clipped). I will also add, most show people clip their wires when they retire them from the show ring. In my opinion, not worth stripping if not a show dog.
