Randy and I are semi-searching for a French Bulldog puppy. He goes between wanting to be a one dog family, to looking at the puppies online all the time. Last weekend we went to the dog show and talked to some breeders. We did this last August, right before Molly died, so it was good to go again and see how we felt now. We are really in love with this breed and they have a lot less physical problems than the English bulldogs and are about 15-20 lbs smaller.
Through the week, we have both been looking for a breeder that is more local, thinking it would be nice to have one around we could get to know better and get to know the dogs there. I found one this week through the French Bulldog Club of America. Get this-she lives about 5 miles from us! Could this be a sign?? Not only that, she has some gorgeous dogs and some great bloodlines. She just bred a pair and if it was successful the pups will be born in mid-April. She is supposed to breed another female in a couple of weeks and those pups would be born in mid-May. She also has a litter planned for Fall from her third female. The dogs are socialized and toddler proof since she has two children who play with them quite a lot. The plan now is for us to go and visit her in a couple of weeks and meet the adult dogs. I really have a feeling Molly-angel is at work with the dog-a-pult. If she is, I better be saving some money!

I agree definitely dogapulpt signs! French bulldogs are sooo cute and would be closer to Schatzi's size, I have a friend here who breeds and shows them and they are delightful little guys. We'll have fingers and paws crossed one is headed your way!

Dee Dee, I remember the drawing you did of a Frenchie. Wasn't if for one of the plates? They are cute and are known to be quite clownish. I mentioned to Randy that we could always put down a deposit on a puppy and then wait until they had the color/sex that we wanted. Oddly enough, he didn't immediately toss that idea out. His "one dog house" is still being said, but a with a lot less volume and a whole lot less force. Even Meg was laughing at him over it this weekend.

LOL that's funny about Randy, he's cracking like a nut!  :thumb:
You have a good memory! Yes I've done several plates with frenchies I am in the throes of this years drawings for them right now, I did a black and white frenchie peeking around a tree at you....didn't realize til it was done it probably looks like he is going to wee on it! D'oh!

Here is my friends web site who raises and shows frenchies if you get bored and Randy needs a little more frenchie dose.

Thanks, Dee Dee! We both love looking at them. I have an iphone now, so they are always on hand to gaze at whenever I want. Of course, Schatzi is on there, too, since I have dozens of pictures of her on it. I've taken more pictures of her with my phone than anything else-she is around more than Meg and is more fun to take pictures of!
We would love to get a black and white, or, as we have been told, a brindle and white since there are no true black Frenchies. The other choice is a Brindle. Then again, I saw a fawn with a darker face and fell in love with it, too. Oh, so many choices... Can you tell it's been a long time since we have looked at puppies? With our last two dogs being rescues that pretty much fell in our laps, we haven't had to choose a dog in a while. Make it interesting.

I just read  "It's Just a Hobby" or "The Price of a Blue Ribbon"! If you haven't read it yet, you need to. I laughed so hard I had tears streaming! Anyone who has been to a dog show or, especially, shown a dog, will love it! Here is the link to the page it is on. Just scroll to the bottom.

I love hearing about this process with you two. I can't wait for the next chapter! You are leaving us with a cliff hanger. LOL!!!

I had not seen that Price of a Blue Ribbon...omg I about fell off my chair laughing. It is so true! I loved May 7 I think it was having to get a new car so the crate would fit..I so did that.

Michelle (the breeder) is a super nice gal. When I was at the vet not long ago with Hallie I was in the surgery room visiting with one of the vets and I hear someone in the waiting room going "this dog looks like Hallie". I stuck my head out and see Michelle looking at Hallie's Christmas card on the wall and I said That IS Hallie. She is in there a lot since the Frenchies have to have C sections....

When I first met Michelle years ago I would see her at dog shows and sometimes she'd be real friendly and talk other times she'd hardly say anything and keep walking. I thought, what is this chick bi-polar or something? Eventually I found out she is an identical twin and the twin didn't know me from adam. LOL!

HAH, HAH, HAH! :chairfall:

Right after "The Price of a Blue Ribbon" I saw the listings for French Bulldogs, Australian sheepdogs and miniature sheep - not miniature sheepdogs, mind you, miniature SHEEP!! Too much for my nerves!!

The local French Bulldog Breeder has two litters due in May!! Randy actually found out before I did and has already sent her an email letting her know we want to visit and see the puppies once they arrive. I had looked at the website last week and at that time she had not listed any specific times for new litters. Guess it was meant to be that Randy was the one to find out.
It will be fun to be around pups again and, even if we don't get one this go around, to know that we are definitely starting the journey toward having another furbaby to love in our family.
