Don't know if anyone mentioned this BUT  I was at the library and grabbed the new Rita May Brown book. thinking maybe it might be another Mrs Murphy one.   I somehow did not look clearly enough at the COVER!!!

Book is named A Nose for Justice
The book apparently came out in 2010 although I am not sure when.

Clearly when I looked at it I then noticed the dog on the cover is a wire haired doxie!!   There is also a German Shepherd mix but the doxie is called Baxter which also strikes a chord for me!!

Merion's Zack has been called Zackster Baxter pretty often !!

In doing a book search on library web site I also discovered there is a BOOK called
Little Pink Pup by Johanna Kirby
That is the story of Tink the doxie who adopted the little pink pup(piglet).
According to feedback on Amazon, there are a lot of pictures in the hardcover book.

Merion

Actually Zackster Baxter is part of my registered name.

Sadly he will never fit the description of  this baxter!  author calls him urbane, and no one would ever call Zack dignified or anything like that!! But  the other dog in the book calls him a fuzzy sausage!!

I finished  the book!! Let's just say it is a great  book!! Baxter and King are definitely involved so to speak!

I forgot to mention one other strange twist in the book.  It is NOT one of the books' dogs BUT one of the characters is named Twinkie!  Given my Twinkie angel was a girl, in my mind Twinkie should be a female's name, but every time I see him mentioned it reminds me of my Twinkie angel!!
It still amazes me I did not notice the cover picture faster, but in any case I did like the book. Being one of her books there are also a number of pictures of the dogs in the book!!

I totally agree, Nancy!  I got it before Christmas (I think) and read it almost immediately.  For those of you who like Blaize Clement's catsitter series, there's a new one out that I got on Saturday.

I must confess this book seems to have more action involving Baxter than many dog related books!!

By the way there is a new Sue Henry book out too.  It is called The End of the Road
That is one of her Maxie and Stretch books. I have not read it, but saw it when I was checking out authors at the library.

Read that one too - and you guys and gals should know that Nancy pointed out a great many mysteries involving animals - my favorite! - that I have read, as well as accumulated.  If you like bloodhounds - try Virginia Lanier's bloodhound series - wonderful, and I was pointed in her direction by Nancy, of course!

I just love the Bloodhound series. They are still some of my favorite books. Actually, I think I may need to find mine and read them again...
In the meantime, it looks like I need to make a trip to the library, or else start downloading to my nook...

I am sure I mentioned it here  before and it is not a huge part of the book, but there is a book called

Bark M for Murder   The author it is under is J A Jance

BUT it has 4 stories in it and ONE of them is a Lanier Bloodhound story.

I might be wrong but I think it might be the last she wrote, I would have liked that story to be longer, but I would have gotten and liked the book just for her story alone.
I admit its when I find one of these older authors, that I so really really wish someone could take over the character and do it, but there have been some characters that has been done with and seldom does the 2nd writer do as well.

Thought I would mention it, just in case you didn't see my original post.
