My sister as you know is into harness work and as baby is "getting there" she dicided to get a "wee one" so we can go out on the roads, and also for me to ride and do harness with. Jamie used to pull a large tourist cart, and when they decided to sell the business in Feb, he was badly neglected, so far he has put on a stone or two.We were thinking of putting a notice on the fence saying we did not do it.  Jamie is a 17-18 hands Clydesdale and about 18 years old, who is just a LARGE dachshund--------------eat and eat. He is getting fitted for his new cart to-morrow, just big enough for Jane and I, and we still feel guilty.
Oliver sits under him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first photo is not long after he arrived and his ribs are still showing, now they are well covered
no 2 He had greay foot, so we had 5 days of twice a day bleach washes to his feet, guess which pair wore the most bleach on the last day and it was not the horse.....then we had to take him for  vet check.................so this is me taking him for a controlled walk...........notice no ribs..........
lastly we walked him up the hill....................., we cut through the paddock just in time to get this photo, we never knew he could canter/run.............he was not happy about being left up there

I saw a sign up by some skinny horses the sign said Please do not feed the horses they are on a special diet and are under Vet care.
Guess people were trying to feed them or the new owners were getting turned in for abuse or something. Takes time to get the weight back on them can't be done over night. Good luck with your boy he will be happy to have a light weight cart to pull, just be careful do not get run over so many people do not watch out when they are driving.

She has 4, two full Clydies  Lommond and Jamie and two half/threequarter  clydies Huon and Lallan.
To-day I went down at three to let Lallan out as he is on a diet, and took three slices of bread down for Jamie. They were frozen so I kept putting them to my face to thaw them out, well Lallan spent about 5 mins just hovering his nose over my face, and you could see the brain ticking "where's the bread, I can smell it"
A twenty kilo bag of carrots goes no where.

LOL love the bread story. They are a lot like dogs! I'm surprised two little longhaired angels didn't do the same to you when you got home.
OK I thought it was four but also thought I might have missed someone in there!  :angel4:

I love their names, where did the names Lommond, Lallan and Huon come from?

Dee Dee, amy gets kisses over the fence from Lommond all the time, she sort of looks at him with "what ya do that for"
Lallan actually Lallans but aussies could not say it  is scottish dialect for lowland. Huon is a river in Tasmania, and Lommond is part of this registered name Murroka Lommond, but they got it from Loch Lommond.............he should be called homer as he is a bit duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. But in saying that his step brother born the year before him is Homer, and he blotted his copy book big time at the Sale show, he managed his tongue over the top of his bit, though a wobbly, then his back band which the reins run through moved due to his bucking,  he  kicked and bucked his way through the miniture ponies and shetlands all lined up for judging, jumped a rail, and took the handler through the jumps section. So his owners were a tad embarished.
