DH has been talking about getting a C-A-T

and I know that would make him so happy, and Zuzu is a little lonely these days.
BUT!  And this is my fault, she chases Kitties!

Any input?  Who has dogs and C-A-Ts?  Can a kitten alleviate Zuzu's lonliness or do you think it will stress her?  She's easy going but has a strong prey drive, and she used to being the center of attention, LOL.

I have cats, and I have had fine luck introducing the baby puppies to the adult kitties, but not so much luck going the other way (with foster dogs, for example).  If Zuzu has strong prey drive, she might well end up with a kitten snack.  I don't think it would stress her, but I don't think a kitten would be soothing, either.  I got Winston when I had five cats in the house, and I still ended up getting Murphy for company for him.   If Zuzu is older, maybe an adult, older cat rather than a kitten would be better?  That way it would be street smart enough to get away if needed.

I agree with Kathleen it is less likely to work with Zuzu being an adult and already goes after cats, there are exceptions to every rule though. Are you not wanting to go down the 2nd dog road?

I think I could get a cat past Buddy but no way with Patches they both bark at the cats next door up in the trees.?

All my kids would like to chase (and probably made a snack of) kitties.  Both Sammy and Pixie have a strong prey drive, and I'd not trust them with cats around.  Jewels and Bambi maybe.  If Zuzu is already not too friendly with cats, I'd hesitate.

I have to agree with the others..... would be stressful for Zu trying to get at it, and very stressful for the humans trying to keep them apart.....  keep us posted on what you decide !
