Looking to adopt a rescue dachshund

Hi everybody,
As some of you may know, last Thursday I adopted Rupert, a rescued dachshund. Unhappily for each of us, this adoption did not work out due to no fault of Rupert's. He had been housetrained to "go" outside and I wanted a doxie to "go" inside on puppy pads. I wish that I had worked harder with Rupert on his "going" outside. Anywho, he went back last night and I have decided to give the outside house training a shot, however late. Now, however, Rupert is back at the shelter and I am without a doggie.  I am wanting to adopt a doxie. I will take either male or female. I am in Georgia and I do not drive so I would be unable to go to a rescue and pick up the dachsie. This would not prevent my getting him/her to the vet. Mama drives and she said that she would be glad to take me.   I have a fenced yard with pecan trees (3), oak trees (2) and nice shade and some squirrels and some birds and bird feeder and two bird baths. I have two nice dog beds and lots of love and a lap that I would love to hold a dachsie in. I would like some info on where I can find a rescued doxie. Does anyone have any info on rescues or websites that I might check out? Please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Yeah, I was going to tell you that you didn't work with Rupert long enough. It can take a long while to get them into new habits...but then again, if you have a fenced secure yard then there's really no reason to have them trained souly to inside pee pads. Just open the door and let em go...

But if you think rupert wasn't a good fit for you home then you did the right thing by returning him quickly.

I have been having some good luck in my search for a rescue dachshund, at least so far. I have contacted several dachshund rescues and I heard today from Jim Ingraham. I also have heard from the shelter near here at Glenwood where I adopted Rupert. I hope to be getting a new dog from there, but I will continue with the other dog. I have heard from Lois by e mail and also there are others. Some dogs have already been adopted and some I haven't heard from yet. We haven't gotten as far as the home visit, but I hope that we do and I hope that I get approved.

How's the search for a new companion going?

Hi,
I found many rescued dachshunds, but there were none who could bring them to me. I don't have a driver's license, so driving is of course a problem. I did get in touch with a breeder and I am getting a puppy in August.

 A small dog door is what you might need so the dog could let it self out when needed puppy pads are confusing to to a puppy if you are going to try to train a pup to use puppy pads and go outside.
