But I think the person has other spelling issues

Only reason why under my siggy  "breeding for conformation not colour" Is

my heart breed.. it sickens me to see no one cares and just breed for
colours but the longer u r on this forum u will see it..

LOL that is pretty funny Roberta....I've always loved the way you spell dachshound! My aunt always called them "dash-hounds". I remember Jessie's breeder correcting me the first few times I entered her in dog shows on the dachshund spelling lol.

Hey Roberta

Is dash-hound Scottish? My dad always talked of them as dashounds and I can't stop myself saying it that way either, in fact mostly when people ask what breed they are I say sausage dog because I feel weird saying daxhund - hey you could swap your spelling to daxhund for a bit and see what interesting facts it draws out LOL.

I have a theory about it actually, I wonder if the pronounciation in Scotland was altered on account of anti-German feeling after the war? I have heard that the breed's popularity took a huge dip after the war in the UK.

I read on the internet (and so it must be true!!) that in the post-war Broadway (?) production of the Wizard of Oz Toto was a dachshund for about a month but they had to choose another breed because of ill feeling over Germany. I suspect it was nothing to do with Germany LOL and am imagining a little black and tan menace causing all sorts of mayhem for a month!!!!
