Where to adopt

Ok so thank you all for the input and advise for getting a second baby.  I would get a girl and yes name her juilet. 

So I live in Central Point Oregon about 5 hours south of Portland.  There is not much here.  Where would I go to adopt one.  I am looking for one real small like half if not smaller then romeo.  Can anyone help out.  Thanks again

Petfinder.com is a great place to find shelter pups near you. Another great thing to do is type the words "dachshund rescue" and the name of your town  into a search engine on your computer and you should come up with a few suggestions.   Sorry I can't give you anything more specific.  Good luck at finding Juliet.  I can't wait to see pictures of her and Romeo playing together!!

You could also try www.drna.org! That's Dachshund Rescue of North America! If you see one that you're interested in they are really good about transporting whether it's near you or not! You can try Craigslist too, just go to your prospective area and to the pets section. But better to Google "dachshund rescue" + your town.. Best of luck on your search...

Petfinder is GREAT!  But when the foster mama tells you that the dawg barks for what she wants, you should LISTEN.

Also, I agree about introducing the dogs in a neutral place.  This worked a treat for Loki & Zuzu. We took Zuzu to the foster home, which had 4 or 5 small dogs, and they immediately all greeted one another.  Next thing I know, Loki's chasing Zuzu into the garage, they disappear for twenty seconds and then Zuzu chased her out.

I wholeheartedly second the suggestion of Dachshund Rescue of North America!  It was through them that I got Scooter...

But really, I believe that any of the rescue organizations recommended here would be good, especially since they are being recommended by fine Dachshund-loving folks here!

We adopted Sammy from DRNA (Dachshund Rescue of North America) and had a great experience.  They have foster families all over the country, and they will help transport the dogs to new homes.  Check out their website.  They have available dogs online and where they are currently living.
