I've seen librarians go wild over them, and they read a lot. Question, do you get to keep the book to reread? Are you really a tech head who adapts to new things and can keep track of a story without looking back, which I've heard is awkward. Finally, how good is your vision? I've heard that some strain the eyes. If you get one, please give me a review, because I listen to books all the time.

I got the Barnes and Noble nook for Christmas and I love it!!! It took very little time for me to get used to reading on it and it is so convenient to have with me wherever I go. I chose the nook because it supports different formats including EPub and PDF files. You can also lend a book to a friend if they have a nook for 2 weeks. Many libraries have Overdrive which is an ebook service and you can also download and read these on the nook. With the amazon Kindle, you are limited to books bought on Amazon.
Barnes and Noble got a lot of bad press in the beginning because they were slow getting the nooks out, but in the end, everyone got theirs before Christmas that was supposed to, and the few who didn't got $100 gift cards ( I was hoping mine would be late!). The issues they had with the reader itself, were taken care of with a firmware update after the first two weeks and another update should be out this month.
Soooo, yes, I highly recommend getting an e-reader and the nook was the one for me. I found a lot of great information on the message board. http://www.nookboards.com/forum/index.php
You will be able to read the positive and the negative, but will see that the positive far outweighs the negative.
