No it's not a new recipe!

I work for a company doing about 20 plus dog breed drawings each year, that go on a decorative plate. This year they put Hallie on the doxie plate.  :hello2: They just came out and I was surprised as they usually have multiple drawings of the breeds on file from me and I never know for sure what will be on the next years plate. You can tell I drew this a few years ago her coat was much shorter. She has her favorite (at the time) toys around her and a chewie and of course is sitting on Princess pillows...you can click on the thumbnail for a larger view.

Wow!  All of the plates are gorgeous!  Are your other drawings based upon dachshunds that you have personally met, or do you draw from photographs?

Handle every "Situation" like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
tinkle on it and walk away.

VERY cute!!! I bet if you showed her this, she'd be embarrassed that you're showing her baby pictures!!!! Hey! Isn't the 2002 plate your Jessie? If not, you have a shot of her just like it and this dog looks just like her!

Dee Dee and Hallie

Good eye Delia yes that is Jessie, I wish now I'd done a different pose. The one in the suitcase is Noel's Sparky and the two sleeping are Krista's Roscoe and Clareces Con.

You're right Ruth there is some eLlIe in there!

Jennifer, I draw them from photos, some dogs I know some I have from shows, doxie picnics, etc.

Your drawings are so beautiful Dee Dee, your love of the little beasties shines through in every one of them and the humour of the breed is right there so beautifully done xxx

Hi Dee Dee

We're ok thanks, it's just Tris and me now though as we lost little Holly dog last Sunday - she's off to terrorise everyone across the bridge now.  She went in good Holly-style, with a belly full of chocolate after one last adventure to steal food.

Tris is doing ok, I am not sure he has registered that she has gone though he has been sleeping in my bed most nights since then - he cries and barks if I leave him in his crate. He was too sickly last Sunday I think to notice. I didn't ever think I would be so glad to have a little doxie climb onto my lap, stick his head down my fleece top and vomit up the lovely chocolate slimey sick - such a classy boy.

Dee Dee and Hallie

Oh no Gail I am so sorry! What happened with Holly? How old was she? So many years have flown by so fast I still picture them both as youngsters. I hope you and Tris are doing OK it's so tough. Goodness, he got into chocolate? How scary as if you didn't have enough to deal with, good he vomited but could have been somewhere other than down your shirt! I'm glad you popped in just so sorry to hear about Holly.

Holly was 12 and a half Dee, still looked like a puppy and only recently had started to slow down when her eyesight and hearing went fairly acutely. She had a parkinsons type of tremor too and the vet thought she had a brain lesion that was causing the symptoms.

She died how she lived lol, being naughty. She and Tris got into a box of good chocolates that were wrapped on the kitchen table - Tris must have used the chair to get up to the table and then knocked the box onto the floor. There was paper and card everywhere and between them they wolfed a dozen or so chocolates - they have previous as you know. Holly started to bloat and I shot them both into the emergency vet since it was Sunday evening.  The vet said she was certain that Holly had a twisted stomach, she couldn't vomit and was drinking masses and her tummy was tight as a drum. She was very uncomfortable.  The vet didn't think that she would make it through surgery and said that on top of her other symptoms that she thought little Hols had probably just had enough. She went to rainbow bridge at 6.30pm with her little head resting in the palm of my hand.  She was such a lovely, crazy little girl who had me completely wrapped around her paw.
